Latest West Bank ‘Outrage,’ Shows World’s Hypocrisy on Israel

Recent media protests about the “West Bank” center on complaints that a Swedish corporation was used as a front to buy an abandoned church by American entrepreneurs Cherna and Dr. Irving Moskowitz.

The building, which will be used to house 20 Israeli families, was bought legally, registered with the Israeli Civil Administration in 2012, and has received all necessary approvals. The purchase was made completely legally.

However, after the media reported that a Jewish family had purchased the property, Palestinian protests erupted. European media outlets ran sinister headlines reading, “American Millionaire Funded Transfer Of West Bank Church To Israeli Settlers”, and Palestinian media headlines roared that “Settlers Seize Church in West Bank.”

The outrage came because Jews bought property in an area in which the Palestinian Arabs seek to get rid of Jews. It is that simple. Instead of a Christian who might ally with the Arabs, and rather than having Arabs who were squatting on the property illegally, one will soon see Israeli Jews living there legally. And racists and extremists are outraged.

In much of the world, there are laws against discriminating against people because of their religion when selling real estate – yet in Israel, a Jew is condemned when he buys legally, and the racists who refuse to sell to Jews evade criticism. It is utterly ridiculous that the world allies with racism because a Jew bought property legally. Is this the fulfillment of the Zionist dream?

Those who believe in justice and equality must thank Cherna and Irving Moskowitz, who are pioneers of the Jewish people.

As Ze’ev Jabotinsky wrote in The Story of the Jewish Legion, “We hold that Zionism is moral and just. And since it is moral and just, justice must be done, no matter whether Joseph or Simon or Ivan or Achmed agree with it or not.” And this is still true – the Moskowitzs are right and it does not matter who agrees.

As Jabotinsky wrote in 1923, “It is incredible what political simpletons Jews are. They shut their eyes to one of the most elementary rules of life, that you must not ‘meet halfway’ those who do not want to meet you.”

It is foolish to believe that peace can be made with people who want areas that are Jew free.
