An antisemitic voicemail message was left at a Jewish center in Cleveland on Thursday threatening the lives of Jews and blaming them for the 9/11 World Trade Center terror attack, the Cleveland Jewish News reported.
A female caller left the message at the Heights Jewish Center Synagogue and accused Jews of perpetrating the infamous Al Qaeda attack as well as raping children, said office manager Esther Abramowitz. During the message, which Abramowitz said was about a minute long, the caller also claimed Jews kill thousands of babies and youngsters monthly.
“They were just totally disgusting claims,” said Abramowitz, who has worked at the synagogue for four years. “At the end of the message, she said that our consequences for these actions is death.”
She added that the Orthodox synagogue is prepared to press charges against the caller, but is not taking additional security measures following the incident. She said the threatening voicemail message was the first antisemitic threat she has witnessed at the synagogue.
The Jewish center filed a police report with the University Heights Police Department.
