Police said a man was found dead in the parking lot of a Staten Island Jewish center early Monday morning, NBC reported.
The 60-year-old had a white plastic bag over his head and was handcuffed to the steering wheel of a car parked in the lot of the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island in Sea View. A passer-by who caught sight of the man notified an employee at the front desk of the JCC, who then called 911, according to a JCC source.
The man’s name has not been released to the public, and New York City police said it is still unclear whether his death was a suicide or if foul play was involved.
“We are cooperating with the police,” said Ruth Lasser, a spokeswoman for the JCC, in an email to Staten Island’s Advance. “There has been no inconveniencing of our members, which we greatly appreciate. We have no additional information.”
