The current state of affairs in Israel is full of lessons and truths. The sooner we learn them, the ‎sooner we can stop the attacks.‎

‎1. We can stop feeling guilty‎.

A few good things have come out of the recent wave of terror in the streets of ‎Israel. The first is that the facade that jihadis are somehow struggling for self-determination, ‎social justice, or any other noble idea has been unmasked. It is clear to us now that, unlike what ‎we’ve been urged to believe for the last 30 years, jihadis don’t want peace. They want to ‎annihilate Jews, Judaism, and the State of Israel. This is great news. Because once the ‎pretense is dropped, we stop falling for it and begin unloading the guilty feeling that we are at ‎fault for everything. We drop the idea, for example, that building in Jerusalem or Judea is causing this war. Those few ‎voices who still try to blame the victims sound delusional and their ideas are being debunked. At ‎the same time, there is a realization that within Israel is a hostile minority that simply ‎does not accept the legitimacy of a Jewish state. Clarity is forming, and it will lead to victory.‎

‎2. The Jewish fighting spirit is back‎.

The second good thing is that the Jewish fighting spirit is back on the streets. Men and women, ‎old and young, are responding to terror with defiance. Pepper spray, rolling pins, umbrellas, ‎selfie sticks, kicks, fists, running, and especially shooting — Israelis are shooting bad guys (and ‎gals). Yes, there have been some horrific videos of Jews being gouged as though we’re back in ‎a medieval Polish countryside. But even in those videos, soon enough, a gun-toting Jew ‎vanquishes the jihadi zombie. We don’t cower and shriek as they wish we would, and it ‎demoralizes them. Our people’s healthy fighting instincts have (amazingly) not been ‎corrupted by the media, or by the ideology of weakness. Remember: Fighting back is good, so ‎stay tactical out there, folks!‎

‎3. When we’re terrified, they win‎.

Speaking of videos and fear: Today’s video-centric world often works in the jihadis’ favor. ‎Terrorists want to make us feel terrified. They try to achieve that by doing a terrible act and ‎publicizing it, using video to drive terror into our hearts. If a viewer is terrified after watching the news or YouTube, then the terrorists have succeeded. Don’t let them. ‎Don’t let them scare you. Don’t let them bully you. Don’t let them unnerve you. When you walk ‎out of your house with a big fork in your bag, you are saying that you’d rather fight than be ‎scared. When you don’t cancel that trip to Israel, you are saying that you will not be cowed. ‎Remember, we Jews have always kicked bullies to the curb. From Abraham to King David to ‎the Maccabees. We’ve fought the Babylonians, Greeks, Romans and British, with tenacity and ‎much success. The jihad bully is next.‎

‎4. Don’t mess with us. You’ll lose‎.

The media, the U.S. administration and the U.N. are full of claims that ‎Israel is using too much force, indiscriminately slaughtering innocent people in ‎response to the jihad. This is classic anti-Semitic propaganda, blaming the Jews for some ‎heinous crime that in reality is the work of the anti-Semite. (This tactic ‎was also used in the blood libel and “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.”) On the one hand, it is important to ‎correct those pervasive lies.

But when Israelis intentionally and justly neutralize ‎terrorists, it is important not to backpedal or mumble the pathetic formula that our army is moral ‎or that we try to save the lives of the terrorists we just shot. Rather, it is much better to say, “You ‎see? This is what happens when you mess with us.” In other words, we are one crazy little ‎post-Holocaust country and we have zero tolerance for Nazi-like jihads, and if you start up with us, ‎you will face our ire and our fire. Contrary to how the world makes it seem, it’s OK for us to want ‎to survive, and it’s OK to say it.‎

‎5. Thanks, “world,” but we can take care of ourselves‎.

Regarding “the world”: It will never come to our aid. We already knew that, learned it the hard ‎way in the 1940s — that’s how the expression “never again” came to be. Part of the reason we established ‎the State of Israel is because “the world” can’t be relied on to defend us. So why do we whine ‎about “the world”? Please let us stop hoping that the U.N. and the EU will condemn someone ‎other then Israel, and let us stop waiting for them. If we want to take care of business, then we ‎have to do it ourselves. Self-determination takes determination and no one will clean up our ‎mess or come to our rescue. Time to grow up, take charge, even lead.‎

‎6. Jihad is a force of chaos.

On one level, what we are dealing with here is radical Islam’s fight against Israel, a Jewish, ‎non-Muslim entity in the Middle East. On a deeper level, this fight is between two universal forces: the creative and the destructive. Israel is about life, innovation, clean water, farming, ‎ education, medicine, health and prosperity. Israel is about enshrining the past and building ‎the future.

But jihadism is like a veil of darkness, repressive and regressive. It sees no value in ‎individuals, and only seeks to suppress people into conformity. Everywhere the jihad goes, it ‎brings entropy and chaos, the opposite of creativity and life. And jihad is not content with ‎the regions of destruction under its control. Rather, it is bitterly jealous of that small green country ‎in its midst. Jihad hates the Jewish state precisely because it is an oasis of life in the heart of its Middle Eastern desert. This distinction makes it all the more clear what value there is to jihad ‎civilization — none — and they hate us for it.‎

‎7. Our kindness goes too far.

However, while jihad is the enemy, out-of-control liberalism is its real enabler. Jihad exploits ‎Western liberalism as a weakness and a portal to spread its venom. To defeat jihad, we have to ‎root it out, deny it any ground in which to sprout, and be anything but liberal with it. We must not ‎allow the extremists to teach jihadism in the schools, to rally on the Temple Mount, to blare out ‎murderous messaged from their minarets, and certainly not allow them to use the Knesset, for heaven’s sake, to spew their venom. We arrest them, hound them, chase them. They must ‎know that if they have seditious thoughts, we can hear them, and we will find them. (For a model of how to fight the jihad, just look at our decidedly-not-liberal-with-‎jihad Egyptian neighbor, President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.) It certainly won’t be easy to put the jihadi genie back in ‎the bottle, but it must be done. It is a matter of our survival.‎

‎8. Don’t mess with Allah‎.

Jihad is religious. It understands the language of God better than Western talk of ‎compromise, negotiations, and peace processes. This is what I tell would-be jihadis in the ‎streets of Jerusalem: “In 1948, we were 600,000 Jews in this land. Now we are 6 ‎million. You have fought many wars against us, but you have never won. Have you ever ‎wondered why? Are we more numerous than you? Are we richer than you? No. It is because ‎Allah wills it and He has blessed us to build up this country. Even the Quran talks about the ‎Jewish people coming home — yet you refuse to submit to Allah’s will. In the meantime, your ‎countries have fallen apart. Where is Syria? Where is Iraq? Where is the strong Egypt of the ‎past? Gone. Do you know why? Because jihad is destroying you, not us. If you keep ‎fighting with us, it will be your own Islamic State that will destroy you, all because you did not accept ‎and submit to Allah’s will.” I have used this argument many times and seen the initial shock and ‎subsequent expressions of acceptance on their faces. In short, blame it on Allah.‎

‎9. We will never leave‎.

And speaking of a language that jihadis understand, we must send them one ‎unambiguous message: We are never, ever leaving. Arabs on the street ask me, “When will ‎there be peace?” and I tell them, “There will be peace when you understand that we will never ‎leave this land and never give up Jerusalem. We are more majnun [crazy] then you are about ‎this place. So you might as well accept the reality. If you don’t, the war will continue, but we will ‎win in the end, because we are never, ever, leaving.” Jihad gets courage from a sense of ‎eventual victory. Take that away and replace it with a sense that the war against Israel is totally ‎futile, a clear message that they will never win, and watch the jihadist motivation dwindle.‎

‎10. Jerusalem is at the heart of it‎.

Finally, to defeat the jihad against Israel, we must realize that the epicenter of the struggle is ‎Jerusalem. Jihadis want to keep us out of Jerusalem, out of the Old City, and certainly off the ‎Temple Mount, because they sense correctly that the bedrock of their power (and ours) is ‎Jerusalem. Holding on to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount gives them religious authority and ‎clout, and keeps us from achieving our true potential as sovereigns of this land. Indeed, almost ‎all of their anti-Israel propaganda has an image, emblem, or icon of the Dome of the Rock. They are ‎fighting to take the heart of our story, Jerusalem, and replace it with their Al-Quds. In the face ‎of this assault, we must not retreat or relinquish any sovereignty in this city. We must not ‎capitulate to the terror by dividing the city, or by keeping Jews away from the Temple Mount. ‎Every person can be part of this fight: Visit Jerusalem, buy in Jerusalem, walk the streets of ‎Jerusalem, pray in and for Jerusalem, and declare our rights to a sovereign and Israeli ‎Jerusalem. In short, to beat the jihadis’ vision of Al-Quds, we must say the following phrase, ‎and mean it: “Next year, and every year, in a rebuilt and united Jerusalem.”‎

The jihad against us is only partly about physical violence. It is mostly about mental intimidation ‎and exploitation of our weaknesses. Yet this challenge is also an opportunity: If we rise to the ‎occasion, overcome fear, and beat back the jihadi scourge, then Israel will take its rightful place ‎as a world leader in the defense of freedom, along with being a nation of innovation and the ‎world’s spiritual superpower. ‎

  • It is interesting to note, that Jordan which is a country that never existed in history before WWI and nobody is contesting its legitimacy or territorial sovereignty and control. The same powers that established 21 Arab States with over 12 million sq. km. plus Jordan after WWI, and reestablished the State of Israel based on the Balfour Declaration and the Faisal Weizmann Agreement of January 1919 and the San Remo Treaty of 1920.
On the other hand, Israel and its Jewish people have over 3,800 years of history.
Many nations and people are questioning Israel’s control of its liberated territory. No one is mentioning that the Arab countries had terrorized, persecuted and ejected/expelled about a million Jewish families and their children from their countries, confiscated their assets, businesses, homes and Real estate, about 750,00 Jewish families and their children of these terrorized and expelled Jewish people were resettled in Greater Israel. The Land the Arab countries confiscated from the Jewish people about 120,400 sq. km. or 75,000 sq. miles, which is over 6 times the size of Israel, and its monetary value today, is in the trillions of dollars.
Let the 21 Arab countries with over 12 million sq. km. resettle the Arab Palestinians in the land they confiscated from the Jews which is 6 times the size of Israel. Provide them with funds they confiscated from the million Jewish families they terrorized and expelled and let them build an economy. This will benefit both the Arab-Palestinians and the hosting countries. The other alternative is relocate the Arab-Palestinians to Jordan, (originally Jewish historical land allocated for the Jewish people) which is already over 80% Arab-Palestinians, and give them funds to relocate and build an economy. This will solve the Arab-Palestinians refugee problem once and for all. It will also reduce hostility and strife in the region.
If this is not discrimination against Israel, I do not know what is.
It seems like nobody cares about land violations in other countries in the world, but when it comes to Israel, everyone has a say. Israel’s rights in the terms of the treaty of San Remo of 1920 are in affect in perpetuity. It clearly states that the Jewish people are the only ones with political rights in the British Mandate of Palestine and that the Jewish people can live anywhere in the British Mandate.
If the U.S., Europe and other countries will stop meddling, and stop its criticism and involvement in the politics of Israel and the Arabs, than there will be a chance for peace.
We know the great powers are only interested in the OIL and nothing else; that is the bottom line.
A true and lasting peace in Israel will bring mammoth economic prosperity to The Israelis and The Arabs alike.
An approach to peace starts by teaching the Arab-Palestinian children and the people not to hate and condemn any acts of violence that hurts civilian populations and stop celebrating and rewarding the death and destruction of each other.

No Jew has the right to yield the rights of the Jewish People in Israel –.

  • Jordan is Arab-Palestine
In compliance with the 1920 League of Nations Resolution (which was illegal), two-state solution was implemented in 1922 when British administration of occupied Israel in violation of International Treaties, (for 50 barrels of oil) allocated more than 77% of Israel territory to Arab-Palestinian Arabs and created Transjordan (now Jordan in) where today over 90 percent of the population identify themselves as Arab-Palestinian. Every party, including UN, EU, US, etc., must respect The 1920 San Remo Treaty, The Faisal Weizmann Agreement of 1919 and the League of Nations Resolutions, adopted and accepted by UN in 1945. Therefore, all so called “Arab-Palestinians” must be relocated there in Jordan. Enough of stealing Israel/Jewish land. Britain and Jordan must compensate Israel for stolen land and natural resources. That includes the assets and land of the million Jews and their children, (that lived in the Arab countries for over 2,600 years), who were expelled from Arab countries of which the majority settled in Greater Israel. (Over 120,000 sq. km. of Jewish Real property was confiscated, which is 6 times the size of Israel and valued in the trillions of dollars).
The League of Nation was contemplating on filing charges against Britain for violating the Mandate for Palestine, especially for restricting Jewish immigration prior and during WW2 1939-1947 (These actions by the British caused the deaths of millions of Jews trying to escape Nazi concentration camps. The British went as far as sending their agents to blow-up Jewish refugee Ships bound for Palestine, under “Operation Embarrass”).
    History of “Arab-Arab-Palestinians”.
Article 24 of the 1964 PLO Charter addressed to UN stipulates: “Arab-Palestinian Muslims do not exercise authority over West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and Gaza territories”
Arab leaders like Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi told the Peel Commission in 1937: “There is no such country as ‘Palestine’; ‘Palestine’ is a term the Zionists invented!”
In 1946, Arab historian Philip Hitti testified before the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry that “there is no such thing as Palestine in history.”
In 1977, an executive committee member of the PLO Zahir Muhsein confirmed that there is no such thing as a separate “Arab-Palestinian” people of Arab descent. In an interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw in March 31, 1977, he stated the following: “The Arab-Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Arab-Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity.”
In 1948, Bernadotte, mediator between Jews and Arabs appointed by the UN General Assembly, noted in his journal that the “Arab-Palestinian” Arabs had little desire for independence:
“The Arab-Palestinian had at present no will of their own. Neither have they ever developed any specifically Arab-Palestinian nationalism. The demand for a separate Arab state in Palestine is consequently relatively weak. It would seem as though in existing circumstances most of the Arab-Palestinian would be quite content to be incorporated in Transjordan.”
In 1947, Arab leaders protesting the UN partition plan argued that Palestine was part of Syria and “politically, the Arabs of Palestine (were) not (an) independent separate … political entity.”
Western media must stop broadcasting and publishing fraudulent, fake, false, and distorted information on Israel and Jews. Current situation, specifically in Europe, is quite similar to 1930’s, however, we, Jews, learned our lessons and will not hesitate to give appropriate response to any mortal attacks on us.

  • Mahmoud Abbas belongs in jail, even better on a hangman’s noose. Israel should send troops to arrest him for inciting to riot and promoting terrorism against Israel.

Israel must use its resources to stop this terror and violence in its tracks immediately. Israel does not have the time and the liberty to sacrifice more Jewish lives. It is the soft hand approach and the delusion of concessions and appeasement to the Arabs, while they continue to attack and terrorize Jews in their own homeland that has brought Israel to this crucial crossroads.

Enough is enough. This cat and mouse treatment has been going on since 1948. Call in the reserves and start implementing Marshall Law or Military law on the Arabs. Zero tolerance and any violence must be reacted with full force. No hesitation on the use of live ammunition and the expulsion of the violator and his family and all their assets confiscated to pay for the damages. Stop equivocating and give excuses. No excuse will be accepted except the total vanquishing Arab terror and violence in Greater Israel. Zero tolerance must be exercised at all times against terror and violence.
    YJ Draiman

After a decade of Arab deception, to believe peace is possible is a delusion, and another mistake, that is costing Jewish lives and the security of Israel.
The Arabs have a state, which is Jordan. Jordan illegally occupied and confiscated about 80% of the land allocated to Jews under international law and treaties of post WWI and the Faisal Wiezmann Agreement in 1919. The Arabs also have the Jewish businesses, homes and over 75,000 square miles of land (which is 6 times the size of Israel) which the Arab countries illegally confiscated from the million expelled Jewish families. The Muslim also killed all the Jews in Medina which was a Jewish city for over 2,600 years. In 1920 San Remo Conference by the Supreme Allied Powers, the Arabs received over 12 million sq. km. of territory and the Jewish people were allocated the territory formerly known as Palestine, as its historical land, which is about 120,000 sq. km. of territory.

The British took away three quarters of Jewish allocated territory and created the new Arab state of Jordan and Jordan was set-up in 1922 on Jewish territory as the new Arab-Palestinian state; Jordan declared its independence in 1946.

It is time to take another approach. Forego all peace talks until the Arabs can prove they can control their population and live with the Jews in peaceful coexistence for at least 5 years. Furthermore, Arabs must eliminate the education of its people to commit terror and violence; replacing it with education and practice of living in harmony and coexistence. Nothing less will be accepted. It is not negotiable.

    Such a wonderful article.
Jerusalem is rightfully yours. We (Gentile Christians) are closely watching. The Jews are God’s great calendar. The time of God’s visitation to the Gentiles is almost running out.

  • Laura Jane Burkhart

Bravo…I am not sure that this is not the most articulate thing I have read in Israeli news articles.
    I am a goyah.
That said…I have wondered, for years…why you, (Jewish Israeli’s) give away land for peace.
But…first…the blood moons meant something. God knew what you all were going to go through…go…though it was horrible…He knew.
I love that it is doing something for you…as strong, Israeli Jews….it is making you go back to a Golda-Meir…young David against Goliath enemy.
After living/volunteering in Israel, for two years…and being friends with Jews and Arabs…and talking to lots of American tourist’s….and reading and hearing liberal news…and even Jews…who side with the “poor-little-picked-on-Palestinians”…all the while…you, as you said…feel guilty…for simply existing.
It is time that you, as Jewish people…stop cowering…stop bowing…you are all the best…and what I found in Israel…is a deep, strong, resourceful, energetic, loving people…as well as many Arabs…who love you too…not the dangerous kind of Arabs…who want to act like the good cousin.
No matter…I am so grateful to know you all…I wish I were Jewish…and I am glad…that someone on the planet deserve to be called, “The Chosen People!”
You are it…that is for sure…and, though you are small…you are dear…beloved…and are blessed forever, Amen!!!!

Dear Mr Fleisher As an Israel, people and land loving Christian, there is only one answer to the problems of your article and for the house of Israel to day and ever has been, and that is to cry out the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, He will respond, for He will see your humility and need. Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit says the Lord. God bless you, Clive

    • William M. Brinton, who appealed against a US district court’s withholding of State Department documents concerning US policy on issues involving Israel and the West Bank, the Golan Heights, and the Gaza Strip. He showed that none of these areas fall within the definition of “occupied territories” and that any claim that the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, or both, is a Palestinian homeland to which the Palestinians have a ‘legitimate right’ lacks substance and does not survive legal analysis. According to Mr. Brinton no state, other than Israel, can show a better title to the West Bank.

  • “Jerusalem is the heart and soul of the Jewish people and the capital of Israel for eternity.”

FACT IS: Ever since the Jews entered the land of Israel in 1300 BCE and King David made Jerusalem the capital of Israel more than 3,000 years ago; then King Solomon built the Jewish Temple, the city has played a central role in Jewish existence. The Western Wall in the Old City is the object of Jewish veneration and the focus of Jewish prayer. Three times a day and in daily blessings, for thousands of years, Jews have prayed “To Jerusalem, thy city, shall we return with joy,” and have repeated the Psalmist’s oath: “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.” Jerusalem “has known only two periods of true greatness, and these have been separated by 2,000 years. Greatness has only happened under Jewish rule,” a famous writer wrote in Jerusalem. “This is so because the Jews have loved her the most, and have remained constant in that love and devotion throughout the centuries of their dispersion. . . . It is the longest, deepest spiritual love affair in history.” “It is for three thousand years, Jerusalem has been the center of Jewish hope and longing. No other city has played such a dominant role in the history, culture, religion and consciousness of a people as has Jerusalem in the life of Jewry and Judaism. Throughout centuries of exile, Jerusalem remained alive in the hearts of Jews everywhere as the focal point of Jewish history, the symbol of ancient glory, spiritual fulfillment and modern renewal. The Jews for the past 2,000 years have celebrated holidays and observed fast days in memory of Jerusalem, the hope and aspiration to return to Jerusalem and rebuilt the Jewish Temple. At Jewish wedding ceremonies a dish is broken in memory of Jerusalem. This heart and soul of the Jewish people engenders the thought that if you want one simple word to symbolize all of Jewish history, that word would be ‘Jerusalem.’ ” “The Jewish people without Jerusalem; is like a human body without a soul”.

The reason Israel, including Jerusalem,of course, belongs to the Jews,is because G d gave this land to us,not to any other people. We have the proof in our Bible. It all belongs to us.

  • It is harder to make peace than war!

When I was in Israel supervising the building of the hotel across from Jerusalem’s Jaffa gate in 1995. The Oslo agreement was implemented. There was euphoria in the air. Many companies and individuals were talking and ready to invest billions of dollars. I myself contacted some investors to invest in building an automobile manufacturing plant which would create jobs and have a locally manufactured automobile at a much more reasonable price. All that faded as soon as the suicide bombers started blowing up busses on Jaffa road in Jerusalem. Talking peace, signing peace agreements and living in peace and coexistence are two different things. There are external powers that do not want peace in Israel. That has been going on since the end of WWI. If you know, or anybody knows a way how to overcome it and bring peace and coexistence in Israel, I would love to promote it. It is unfortunate, that you have the Arab leadership for the past 3 generations promoting terror and violence and educating their children and the masses to commit terror and violence, while celebrating terror attacks and financing terrorists. You are banging your head against the wall. It has to start with a change in the mindset and the education of the children and the masses to live in peace.
The Arabs have to prove that they truly want peace. Israel will need to see years of non-violence and peaceful coexistence, prior to resuming peace talks. Furthermore, the world at large must stay out of it, let the Israelis and Arabs work it out without external involvement. Then you night have a chance for coexistence.
    YJ Draiman

Jewish roots and rights to all the land of Greater Israel are stronger than ever!

“If I am turned out of hearth and home and remain outside one night, I am legally entitled to return the following day. If I suffer for ten, twenty, five thousand or fifty thousand nights, does my right of return stand in inverse relationship to the length of my exile? Quite the contrary; my right to return and recover my freedom becomes stronger in direct proportion to what I have endured, not by virtue of some abstract arithmetic, but because of the nights spent in exile, and because I want my children, to be spared a similar experience.”

“few voices”,hostile minority – these terms cover the reality of “leftist establishment” in government structures that limites the Bibi`s ability to fight the terror.”… we`ve just understand..they does not want peace.. – the third(!) intifada hardly teaches “liberals”! Why? Is Jewish liberalism simply the religion of oppressed, or the hopes of assimilation?

  • Who Stole the Land of Israel?
Why do the anti-Zionists feel that a thousand-year old claim by Arabs who were never ruled by Palestinian Arabs has legitimacy, while a 1,900-year claim by Jews to the land should be rejected as absurd?
So let us see if we have this straight. The anti-Zionists claim that the Jews have no right to the land of Israel because before Israel was re-created in 1948, Israel re-assumed its sovereignty on May 15, 1948, but it was reconstituted in 1920 under international law and treaties, with the British as trustee for the Jews to promote Jewish immigration, until the Jews comprise a majority. It had been almost 1,900 years since the last time that the Jewish people exercised sovereignty over the Land of Israel. And the anti-Zionists claim that it is absurd to argue that anyone still has rights to land that was last governed with sovereignty 1,900 years ago. They forget to mention that Jews were always residing in Israel and in varying population census.
And on what basis do they argue that the Arabs have some legitimate claim to these same lands? On the basis of the claim that the various Arab-Muslims rulers last exercised sovereignty as an occupier over that land 1,000 years ago.
Are you all with me? 1,900 year-old-claims by the Jews are inadmissible. Thousand-year-old of numerous rulers, that the Arab-Muslim claims trump them and are indisputable.
Now let us emphasize that even the thousand-year-old Arab claim is not the same thing as a claim on behalf of Palestinian [sic] Arabs. After all, the last time that Palestinian Arabs held sovereignty or control over the lands of “Palestine” was … never. There has never been a Palestinian Arab state in Palestine. Ever.
It is true that various Arab rulers once exercised its occupation and control over parts or all of historic Palestine – Israel. There were small Nomadic kingdoms in the south of “Palestine” already in late Biblical days, and they were important military and political allies of the Jews, who exercised sovereignty for over 1,000 years back then in the Land of Israel, which extended all the way to Mesopotamia. After the rise of Islam, historic “Palestine” was for a time indeed part of a larger numerous ruling Arab-Muslim kingdoms or caliphate. But that ended in 1071 CE, when Palestine came under the rule of the Seljuk Turks and shortly afterwards by the Crusaders for about 200 years.
That was the last time Palestine had an Arab-Muslim ruler. After that, it was always ruled by a long series of Ottomans, Mamluks, other Turks, Crusaders, British, and — briefly — French. And in any case, why does the fact that Palestine once was occupied by a larger Arab-Muslim empire make it any more “Arab” than the fact that it also was once part of larger Roman, Greek, Persian, Turkish, or British empires? Now it is true that historic Palestine probably once had a population majority who were Arab Muslims and Christians, but today it has a population majority who are Jews.
So if population majorities are what determine legitimacy of sovereignty, Israel is at least as legitimate as any other country.
So why exactly do the anti-Zionists claim that a thousand-year old claim by various Arab-Muslims who were never ruled by Palestinian Arabs has any legitimacy, while a 1,900-year legitimate claim by Jews to its own historical ancestral land should be rejected as absurd, even though the Supreme Allied Powers after WWI had signed a treaty that guaranteed Palestine as the land for the Jewish National Home (The British in violation of international law and treaties reallocated about 80% of Jewish land east of the Jordan River to the new Arab state of Transjordan, which received its independence in 1946). These terms were confirmed by the 1920 treaty of Sevres and Lausanne, including the 1919 Faisal Weitzman Agreement. (The Supreme Allied Powers also allocated over 5 million square miles to the Arabs). These treaties were incorporated by the 52 members of the League of Nations, which set-up the Mandate for Palestine to reconstitute the Jewish sovereignty in the land. After the British abandoned its obligation to the Mandate for Palestine. The United Nations recognized that the terms of the treaty of Jewish majority has been reached and granted Israel sovereignty in 1947?
The anti-Zionists say it is because the thousand-year-old Arab deceptive claim is more recent than the older legitimate Jewish claim. But if national claims to lands become more legitimate when they are more recent, then surely the most legitimate of all is that of the remaining indigenous Jews of Israel have absolute right to the lands of Israel, also because it is the most recent!
The other claim by the anti-Zionists is that Jews have no rights to the lands of Israel (historic Palestine) because they moved there from some other places. Now never mind that there was actually always a Jewish habitation living in the lands of Israel even when it was under the sovereignty of Romans, Greeks, Byzantines, Arabs, Crusaders, Mamluks, Turks, French or British.
Does the fact that Jews moved to the land of Israel from other places disqualify them from exercising sovereignty there? The claim would be absurd enough even if we were to ignore that fact; that most “Palestinian Arabs” also moved to Palestine from neighboring countries, starting in the late nineteenth century. But more generally, does the fact that peoples that move from one locality to another deprive it of its claims to its legitimate sovereignty in its new abode? Does this fact necessitate the conclusion that they need to pack up and leave, as the anti-Zionists insist?
If it does, then it goes without saying that the Americans and Canadians must lead the way and show the Israelis the light, by returning all lands that they seized from the Indians and the Mexicans to their original owners and going back to whence they came. For that matter, the Mexicans of Spanish ancestry also need to leave. The Anglo-Saxons, meaning the English, will be invited to turn the British Isles over to their rightful original Celtic and Druid owners, while they return to their own ancestral Saxon homeland in northern Germany and Denmark. The Danes of course will be asked to move aside, in fact to move back to their Norwegian and Swedish homelands, to make room for the returning Anglo-Saxons.
But that is just a beginning. The Spanish will be called upon to leave the Iberian Peninsula that they wrongfully occupy, and return it to the Celt Iberians. (The Muslims occupied Spain for about 700 years, through the late 1400’s, how come they are not demanding Spain as their land). Similarly the Portuguese occupiers will leave their lands and return them to the Lusitanian’s. The Magyars will go back where they came from and leave Hungary to its true owners. The Australians and New Zealanders obviously will have to end their occupations of lands that do not belong to them. The Thais will leave Thailand. The Bulgarians will return to their Volga homeland and abandon occupied Bulgaria. Anyone speaking Spanish will be expected to end his or her forced occupation of Latin America. It goes without saying that the French will lose almost all their lands to their rightful owners. The Turks will go back to Mongolia and leave Anatolia altogether, returning it to the Greeks. The Germans will go back to Got land. The Italians will return the boot to the Etruscans and Greeks.
Ah, but that leaves the Arabs. First, all of northern Africa, from Mauritania to Egypt and Sudan, will have to be immediately abandoned by the illegal Arab occupiers and squatters, and returned to their lawful original Berber, Punic, Greek, and Vandal owners. Occupied Syria and Lebanon must be released at once from the cruel occupation of the Arab imperialist aggressors. Iraq must be returned to the Assyrians and Chaldeans. Southern Arabia must be returned to the Abyssinians. The Arabs may retain control of the central portion of the Arabian Peninsula as their homeland. But not the oil fields.
Oh, and the Palestinian Arabs infiltrators, usurpers and squatters will of course have to return the lands they are illegally and wrongfully occupying, turning them over to their legal and rightful owners, which would of course be the Jews, who are the only remaining indigenous people!

YJ, you forgot to mention Jewish sovereignty in the sixth Century, however, brief.

    • esther noodelman

Y J Draiman, love your clear proof of our Jewish right to all of Eretz Israel, notwithstanding lies of the Arabs and supporters of Arabs. That is why Abbas will not admit to any agreement that insists that Israel is a Jewish State, because that means that the Arabs are not the real owners. In other words,Abbas “gets it”,
while many dreamy so-called peace lovers don’t “get it”!!

Very good article!!

  • Natalie

Excellent. Well written article. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • james hazan

your articles are far too long, shorten them and they will be read.

    • Whar are you, 12?

May God bless Jerusalem and Increase her borders in Jesus name. Amen.

  • Noel Eliscu

For Israel to survive which I feel is highly unlikely in this present political world. One you have the POTUS who thinks Israel should be a two state scenario starting with 1967 borders. A man who says one thing and then f–ks you. You have Arab countries planning to destroy Israel with the help of Russia,France,United States and China. Iran has sworn the destruction of Israel and with the help of these countries including South Korea and Pakistan they will have all that is necessary. The only outcome of all this will be either Israel will bomb Iran or Iran will bomb Israel and WWIII will begin. That you Mr. President for your support of all the Muslim nations and your encouraging them when you sign agreements that they have already been broken. Oh! By the way their are Muslim terrorists.

    • Naftali Greenwood

Your concern is appreciated but ease up. Apocalypses are apocalyptically rare and states seldom cease to exist, let alone those like Israel that mean business about their existence. The most important things Israel needs to do right now are probably (1) improve its social and educational services and (2) (yes, I mean this) reform its electric company.

  • Hal

This is the first article that I’ve read since this latest round of Palestinian terrorism began that aligns 100% with my own views of how Israelis and Jews worldwide should think and act. Thank you!

  • Well said! Long Live Isreal

  • Gadu

You forgot to mention the media. Why does Israel allow the media to operate freely? Israel knows it is grossly biased yet allows free reign to CNN, Reuters, BBC, AFP, AP, even Al Jazeera. Surely the time has come to throw out the media and seize their equipment and assets?

    • Israel is the Only country in the mid east where the media roams freely. However, the Liberal media which is 90% of all outlets especially in Eutope.and America have recklessly been biased to make Israel the aggressor and hamas, islamic, jihad, Hezbola and Muslim brotherhood to look like the victims when they victimize their own people not just Israelis.

      • Phil

@Bobby: That’s an important point and one that needs to be repeated much more often. The Hamas death cult victimizes the Palestinians it rules, silencing and intimidating dissenters (not to mention torturing and killing them) and it gets away with it because the international media allows it to.

    • Alex

They are allowed to operate freely because it is the law. It’s what differentiates Israel from the rest of the Middle East.

    • Naftali Greenwood

Imagine the tenor of the coverage if Israel were to behave as you recommend.

  • Janet Davis

Watching this wave of terror from the United States towards Jews in Israel and other countries, I feel helpless. This article points out many things. What stands out is the part you wrote about liberalism and the role it plays in “understanding” but really propelling this hatred towards all Jews in every country, This hatred does not stop at Orthodox Jews or the Reform Liberal leaning Jews, all Jewish people are targeted.

Excellent points, but I totally disagree to call Elohim “allah”. Their god is against our G-d.

    • Tzuriyah

There is only ONE G-d!! And if calling “Him” Allah gets through to the jihadis then use that name.
You need to reread that section of the article.

      • rulierose

yes, I thought that was the most fascinating part of this excellent article.

  • Charles Hyman

Please add me to your blog list.

    • B. singer

Excellent writing. Enjoyed reading the whole article.also very inspiring. G-d bless Israel. Those Jihadist must be exterminated . They do not value life, their own or others. They only have hate in their heart, unfortunately it is from generation to generation. Hopefully someday an Arab will be born and grow up to realize that he could do great business with an Israeli, and have a productive and happy life, and teach his children to love and have respect for human life.

  • Barbara Goldberg

    ??????? well said!

  • Michele

Totally stand with you and agree!!!

  • Ansley Hamlin

I’m pretty sure this is the best article I’ve ever read, and I read A LOT of articles.

  • This is a stunning, refreshing insite to the very heart of all that is ISRAEL!!! Israel is God purposed, God shaped and designed and her purpose is great, indeed! The world will NEVER take her side, never plead her cause unless and until the world deals with TRUTH. NO more guilt!! No more ! The world NEEDS Israel, and the sooner they realize it, the sooner Palestine will be pushed back where it belongs.

  • chana

I think you are correct. But you miss the main point. We wil onyl win when we realize thatw e have a mitzva to win. The mitzva is not onyl to ensure orusafety, but because we ahve a reason that we have to be HERE, that we have to have a nation,a dn not just keep mitzvot in golus.
we have to rebuild teh temple, not for teh animal sacrficices, wqhich may or may not be reinstated. Teh Temple is meant to houe:
    – prayer in unity, partly only for Jew, but also for the rest of the world (כי ביתי בית תפילה ייקרא לכל העמים)
    – prayer that creates involvement in one’s larger community – when one is sick , in mourning, or, at the other end, a groom or bride, one walks the circumference of the Mount in the other direction. This is in order to get others to see and pray for the person in need of prayers…
and, of course, the Temple is the centre of justice:
    – the central lost and found for the entire country sits on the Mount
    – the supreme court sits on the mount

    • maria

Yes, we will win. We have survived the most terrible persecution during the centuries and we survived.
However, we have to be united and we cannot be too kind to the savage creatures who try to kill us.
They are like Hitler, but they will not win

  • Mark Herskovitz

    Brilliant, inspirational prose! Yeshar Kochechah!

  • Mordecai Bne Natan

Israel has to introduce a law, whereby, anyone who preaced hate of Jews and Israel, and incites murder of Jews, must be arrested and sentenced to life in prison without any privilages.
They must be told that there will be no Halal food, only pork products.

If they dont like that, then they must go to their Allah, the sooner the better.
Te Arabs warned in 1947 UN vote that if the Jews gat a state of their own, tere will be blood shed.
That was one time these evil swines did nl=ot lie.

They have tried so many times to destroy Israel. But, with the will and help of Hashem, they will never destroy Israel

  • Richard Dixon

My God tells me, a Gentile, in holy scripture, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” – and I do; Night and morning I lift you to the throne of grace for His blessing. I am not the only one.

  • A fine article, and quite correct. Israel will gain no approbation by attempting to appease both her Arab enemies and those in the West. She will lose no approbation by fighting back, as she had none in the first place. Realizing this is a great step gained.

  • Korulska Ewa

The most intelligent, straight and true message about the Arab- Israeli conflict ever told.
We should stop this toxic propaganda about ” Palestinians struggling desperately for land”
The true Palestinian nation is the Jewish nation. Don’t let us steel that truth by the liars usurpators of our history.

  • G.M. Ben-Nathan

Point eight (8) above is exactly the one our Israel-support group in London UK (Middle East Information Exchange, M E I E) has been making.

We are writing to leaders of Islam including Ayatollah Khamene’i in Iran stating:

    1. The Holy Land is “written” to the Jewish people in the Qur’an (Sura 5:21 and many other Suras)

2, This being so, why do you think Allah has not frustrated Jewish return and re-settlement of the “Holy Land”? Allah has, after all, had long enough to do so.

    3. Can you not see that this return is BY the Will of Allah and not, as Muslims have assumed all along, against His Will?

We are perhaps naively expecting a reply from the Ayatollah.

  • Terry

An article which conveys answers with great clarity.

Not only Israel, but the rest of the western democratic world can learn from this article. It won’t, but we Jews just may.

Until everyone starts telling the meshuga jihadists where to stick their prophet, they won’t have any incentive to stop their medieval drive to hell.

  • Richard E Sherwin

Youre more right than wrong, and any of the potential wrongness is cancelled out by the violence stupidity and general jewhating of the jihadists and such of their moderate moslem supporters as there may be. Congratulations, and keep up the good work.

  • Jeff

Common sense from an uncommonly insightful analyst. An 11th suggestion: Commit Yishai’s 10 to memory.

  • The important thing to me is this, that Israel, even if the entire world turns against her, as Scripture says it will, is never alone. She is the apple of G-d’s eye, and He neither slumbers nor sleeps, & in fact, has told us step by step, what is happening & what will soon happen. Am Yisrael Chai!

  • Pinchas Baram in Boston

good to excellent, Yishai— but there’s not enough here re how to deal with the enemy within, i.e., erev rav jews, yes jews — the hateful, pro-BDS, anti-Zionist, post-Zionist jewish israelis in academia and the media and many kibbutzim which vote meretz or communist. so i’m not talking about neturai karta nuts, who are disgusting but they are a separate topic.

Netanyahu should not listen to Kerry and tell the Jewish people to stop praying on their own temple Mound.A mistake. The Jewish people should be allowed to pray everywhere in their country. Donot cave in to Kerry: a traitor to the Jewish State and faith.

  • Jay Newcomb

I love what you have to say. This artical speaks the truth. Take a lesson from King David when he responded to Philistine terror. He picked up five stones, not because he need five stones to kill Goliath, but to take out Goliath’s four brothers. AM YISROAEL CHAI!!!
