A female IDF soldier broke down into tears and was inconsolable on Monday as she was led away from the scene where a fellow soldier was stabbed to death in the West Bank, the Daily Mail reported.
Photos show the devastated soldier crying and holding onto a fellow soldier for support, before being escorted from the site of the incident, which took place at a gas station on Route 443 between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Private Ziv Mizrahi from the Jerusalem neighborhood of Givat Ze’ev, The Jerusalem Post reported. A driver in a unit that operates surveillance balloons, Mizrahi died after being stabbed in the stomach by a Palestinian assailant, who also lightly wounded two women before he was shot dead, according to the Daily Mail.
Mizrahi was pronounced dead at the scene of the attack after paramedics attempted to resuscitate him, the Magen David Adom emergency ambulance service said.
“He had no pulse and was not breathing,” a MDA paramedic said about Mizrahi, who was found unconscious with stab wounds. “We provided him medical treatment and tried at length to resuscitate him.”
The second victim was transferred to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for treatment and is said to be in stable condition after being stabbed in one of her limbs, Haaretz reported. Another woman was lightly wounded during the attempt to stop the Palestinian attacker.
Earlier in the day, two teenage Palestinian girls attacked and slightly wounded a 70-year-old man with scissors in Jerusalem before a policeman shot them both and killed one. A Palestinian was also shot dead on Monday near the West Bank city of Nablus after approaching soldiers with a knife, the Daily Mail reported.
