British police are investigating claims that three ultra-Orthodox Jewish shoppers were attacked at a shopping center in a north London borough, Jewish media reported on Thursday.

According to the UK Jewish Chronicle and Jewish News Online, the three were attacked because of their conspicuous Jewish garb by individuals in a white pickup who screamed, “Hitler is on the way to you, heil Hitler!” and pelted the three with gas canisters.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the Tottenham Hale Retail Park. Although no injuries were reported, the three were treated by Jewish neighborhood watch Shomrim volunteers.

The local Shomrim chapter posted pictures of the gas canisters on Twitter.

Shomrim volunteer Michael Blayer told the Guardian:

The verbal abuse was disgusting, and small objects were thrown towards the victims, making them fear for their immediate safety. Shomrim are supporting the victims. The incident has been reported to the Metropolitan Police, I have absolute confidence in our local police that this will be thoroughly investigated. I encourage anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have experienced a similar incident to report it.
