Palestinian Terrorist Attempts Car-Ramming, Shot Dead

JNS.org – A Palestinian terrorist was shot dead Friday after he tried to run over Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers near Ramallah. While no one was actually struck by his car, one woman was lightly wounded from shrapnel.
The car-ramming attack followed another incident on Friday in which two Israeli Border Police officers and a Palestinian woman were wounded in an attack at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City. On Thursday, two Palestinian teenage terrorists stabbed two Israelis at a supermarket north of Jerusalem. One of the victims—off-duty IDF Staff Sgt. Tuvia Yanai Weissman, 21, the father of a baby girl—later died. His funeral was held Friday at Har Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem.
“You were always full of endless giving, if you hadn’t run there [to stop the terrorists] you wouldn’t be the Yanai that I know and fell in love with. If only you could have been with Neta more, how many dreams we had…you are a true hero of all the nation of Israel, you knew that you had no weapon and nevertheless you ran. I want to thank you, I merited to learn from a talented and special man. Thank you for our Neta (the baby),” said Weissman’s widow, Yael, in her eulogy, Israel National News reported.
While Palestinian stabbing, shootings, and car-ramming terror attacks against Jewish Israelis have continued for months during the current wave of terror, U.N. Special Envoy to the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov was asked by Jerusalem Post if the world body treats Israel fairly. He responded, “not always.”
But Mladenov also echoed recent comments on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, noting that “when you have an occupation of one people by another people, that always drives frustration. Ultimately, that frustration drives violence. It doesn’t justify terror, but it does drive that, it creates the conditions under which that violence becomes acceptable, possible and a fact of life. It doesn’t mean at all it justified terror. Nothing justified terror whether it is here or anywhere else in the world.”
