Wildfire Rages Near Jewish Villages in Judea and Samaria
by JNS.org
JNS.org – Israeli firefighters on Friday were working to put out a large wildfire that broke out on “Moshe Zar Hill” between the villages of Karnei Shomron and Ramat Gilad in Judea and Samaria. Local residents were evacuated after several mobile homes caught fire.
Additionally, authorities said that several old mines located in the area exploded because of the fire. Authorities blamed the fire on severely hot and dry weather conditions, saying that firefighters were called to put out at least 70 brushfires on Friday, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.
Friday’s wildfire came about a week after another major wildfire destroyed up to 250 forest acres in Jerusalem, forcing as many as 60 residential homes to be evacuated.
