The Gaza-based Islamic Jihad terror group proudly paraded its newest weapons in its family friendly “Bond of Blood” festival on Thursday, Palestinian news website Donia al-Watan reported.

The military arm of Islamic Jihad, known as the Al-Quds Brigades, unveiled a new long-range rocket at the event in a purported show of force against Israel. The group didn’t disclose any details on the exact capabilities and range of its newest advanced weaponry.

According to the report, the “the upgraded weapons show that the Al-Quds Brigades are ready to repel any Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.”

In pictures of the festival — which honors terrorists who died while carrying out attacks against the Jewish state and those wounded while waging jihad — small children are seen dressed up like terrorists, carrying guns and other weapons.

The acquisition and use of long-range rockets by Gaza terror groups poses a significant and growing security threat to Israel. During 2014’s Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip, terror groups successfully launched Syrian-made long-range M-302 rockets as far north as Haifa, targeting major population centers in Israel for the first time.

The M-302 — which is capable of reaching targets up to 150 kilometers away — is the same type of missile confiscated by Israel when its navy intercepted the KLOS-C vessel in 2014. According to Israeli officials, the weapons were part of a smuggled arms shipment from Iran to Gaza via Sudan.

Beyond the threat faced by Israel of rocket attacks from Gaza, officials have also expressed concern over the hidden arsenal of Lebanon-based Hezbollah, totaling some 120,000 projectiles.

As reported by The Algemeinerearlier in July, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon warned that Hezbollah has amassed a larger arsenal of hidden rockets and missiles than all European NATO allies combined.
