JNS.org – An Israeli woman was among those wounded on Wednesday night in a knife attack in central London, Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Thursday.
An American woman was murdered and three others injured were American, British, and Australian. Two are being treated in a local hospital and three others have been discharged.
A Norwegian national of Somali origin, 19-years-old, was tased and arrested by police in Russell Square near the British Museum, following what police called a “spontaneous attack.”
Although police initially linked the attack to terrorism, Metropolitan police assistant commissioner Mark Rowley later said the knife rampage was triggered by “mental health issues.”
“This morning we’ve searched addresses in north London and we will search another in south London. I emphasize that so far we’ve found no evidence of radicalization that would suggest the man in our custody is in any way motivated by terrorism,” Rowley said.
