JNS.org – Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon met with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel this week to discuss efforts in fighting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
“Chicago stands by Israel, and Israel stands by Chicago in this important battle,” Danon said after the meeting, Israel National News reported. “Israel and Chicago have a lot in common. We are both leaders in water treatment and conservation, and we are both prioritizing innovation and technology at the top of our agendas.”
Danon thanked Emanuel for implementing the law and called “for continued coordination and cooperation against those who seek to delegitimize Israel.”
Illinois was the first state to pass anti-BDS legislation in 2015. The bill bans the state from doing business with companies that boycott Israel.
