With Rick Perry withdrawing his contention for the Republican Presidential nomination, the remaining candidates include favorite Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum.
So where will the Texas Governor’s Jewish supporters go from here?
Santorum, Gingrich, and Romney have all come out strongly in favor of the U.S. Israel alliance and have forcefully opposed Iran’s desire to become a nuclear state – two issues which will help to determine where Jewish backing will go leading into November’s election.
According to a conservative Jewish leader who requested anonymity due to the ongoing fight for his coalition’s support, a lot is riding on the outcome in South Carolina’s Saturday primary, “It all depends on South Carolina”.
Next up after South Carolina is Florida, where the states’ Jewish population is just under 3.5%.
The Algemeiner will be blogging live from the Republican debate tonight in South Carolina.
