Oliver Benjamin Karp co-founded Eliezer, the Jewish Society at Yale University in 1996 with Rabbi Shmully Hecht and Newark, NJ mayor Cory Booker. Ben lived in Japan for six years and is currently writing a doctoral dissertation detailing the great black scholar W.E.B. Du Bois's fascination with that country's modern rise. Karp lectures in African American and American history as well as the history of Western Civilization at the University of New Haven. The views expressed here are his own.
