Dmitry ‘Star of David’ Salita, fought to a narrow unanimous decision win against Franklin Gonzalez on Wednesday at the Oceana Hall in Brighton Beach, New York. Battling through the first rounds, he came back to seal a 78-74 point victory on all of the judges’ scorecards.

The fight, entitled Redemption, was Salita’s ‘come back’ bout following a first round loss against Amir Khan in December 2009 and was attended by a largely Jewish crowd of just over one thousand.

Also attending the fight, was Paulie Malignaggi, a popular New York based fighter who congratulated Salita in the ring following his triumph, and spoke of the possibility of a future fight with him. Salita’s camp has confirmed that they are in talks with Malignaggi.
