CRI – Concerned over the stalemate in the Middle East peace process, Israeli President Shimon Peres recently requested for a meeting with the U.S. President Barack Obama to explore ways of bringing Israel and the Palestinians back to the negotiation table, local daily Ha’aretz reported Thursday.

Peres has grown apprehensive about the potential impact of the prolonged stalemate on Israel’s international standing and its relations with Egypt and Jordan, its main allies in the region, the report said.
