In a joint IDF-ISA activity, an IAF aircraft targeted a terror tunnel and several Hamas-affiliated militants in the northern Gaza Strip. A direct hit was confirmed.

According to the IDF, the tunnel was intended for the infiltration of terrorists into Israeli territory and for the execution of terror attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.

The targeting of the tunnel and militants was in response to Hamas’ recent terrorist activity, including the barrage of mortar shells, Qassam and Grad rockets fired from Gaza at the Israeli home front over the past week.

Over 130 mortar shells, Qassam rockets and Grad rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip and landed in Israeli territory since the beginning of the year, 56 of which were fired just this week.
