In Manhattan, the Borough President threw a party and everybody came! Woman from across the wide spectrum that is Manhattan came to the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum to celebrate Women’s History Month, 2011. Honoring both his wife and his mother, Stringer recalled his political mentor, Congresswoman Bella Abzug. Philanthropist & Curator Estrellita Brodsky, United Federation of Teachers Representative Evelyn DeJesus, and CBS Anchor Dana Tyler were honored at the event.

In Brooklyn, the iconoclastic, indefatigable, idiosyncratic Marty Markowitz presented the Brooklyn Bridge to Tupper Thomas, retiring Prospect Park Administrator/Prospect Park Alliance President. Almost a thousand patrons gathered under a mammoth tent in the Park to celebrate Thomas’ thirty year reign overseeing the revival of the park, returning the crime-ridden blight to the beautiful oasis envisioned by Frederic Olmstead. (Did the Borough President really just refer to himself as a Jew boy?)

Former Congresswoman Elizabeth Holtzman, now in private practice, served as a public member of the Nazi War Crimes and Japanese Imperial Government Records Interagency Working Group, with Ronny Bassan, Executive Vice President of the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce, at the Women's History Month celebration in Manhattan.
