Israel’s dynamic duo, Jonathan Erlich and Shahar Pe’er, reached the final eight of the mixed doubles at Wimbledon, after defeating British opponents Colin Fleming and Jocelyn Rae in a riveting match last Thursday. The unseeded pair competed in a roller coaster contest winning the first set 6-4, and, after finding themselves in a 4-1 hole in the second, came storming back to take a commanding 7-5 lead. The game ended on that score sending the Israelis into a Friday clash with fourth seeded Russian squad Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Vesnina. They would eventually fall to the eastern European double act by margins of 6-4 and 6-1, missing a chance at the Wimbledon semi finals.
