Cyprus Navy Chief Killed in Iranian Explosion

BBC – More than 90 containers of gunpowder that Cypriot authorities intercepted from an Iranian ship sailing to Syria in violation of U.N. sanctions, Exploded Monday killing the head of Cyprus’ navy Andreas Ioannides, and 11 others.
Firefighters were called to tackle a small fire in the storage area of the main Navy base when there was a massive explosion, killing Ioannides and the base commander Evangelos Florakis.
The defense minister and military chief have resigned over the incident.
