Last week, Bishop Eddy Long stirred up quite a bit of controversy after he was wrapped in Torah scroll but a Messianic preacher – Rabbi Ralph Messer, who then anointed Long as a “king”.

The Anti-Defamation League released a statement condemning the act and on Saturday, Long quickly apologized for any harm he had done.

“While I believe that Rabbi Ralph Messer has good intentions during his message at New Birth, I understand that the ceremony he performed on Sunday, January 29th, caused harm to the Jewish community, for which I am deeply sorry,” Long wrote.

Messianics believe that Jesus is the Messiah, which does not conform to any branches of Judaism.  Long also said he had no intent to offend “in any manner” the Jewish community “or any group”.

  • “Offence” and “Outrage” would be held by those who “expect” better of those living in this world. If anyone would have the “right” to be offended or outraged it would be the Author of Torah, namely HaShem [Hebrew for “The Name”]. The fact that we live in a Nation where people can do “Stupid” things is part of the price of freedom. The “Christian” Bible is sold by Dollar Tree by the millions for $1, the LORD only knows where these end up; some even boast using the pages of the Bible for smoking pot. Again I am not offended, nor am I amused. Like Mr. “T” says “I pity the fool”.

Ralph Messer needs to get his facts straight.
To say that 90% of jews have never seen a Torah up close is definitely a gross exaggeration. Also there are 23 pairs of chromosomes not 22!
