Marie Colvin, an American journalist working for the UK based Sunday Times was killed in Homs, Syria on Wednesday as government forces continue to try and crush an opposition demanding the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad.

Colvin was no stranger to covering conflicts.  In 2001, she lost an eye in Sri Lanka from shrapnel wounds.

Several publications are reporting that witnesses saw artillery hit the building where Colvin and Remi Ochlik – a French photographer who was also killed on Wednesday – were staying and as the two tried to escape, a rocket hit the home.

Marie Colvin was in Syria covering the unrest and gave her last report to Anderson Cooper on CNN.  You can watch the video below.
