A vegetarian since the age of 15, former “House” star Lisa Edelstein recently posed nude for the animal rights organization, PETA.

“I was never a big meat eater. I was always picky. I was raised in a kosher home, and if you’re raised with a food restriction, it’s not that difficult to have another kind of food restriction,” she told Prevention Magazine recently.

The 44 year old Jewish actress, who played Dr. Lisa Cuddy on Fox’s “House” credits her decision to not eat meat as the reason for her healthy body.

The meat industry is really toxic to the environment. The cattle industry-besides the fact there are a lot of cruel things happening-the manure is extremely toxic,” Edelstein said.

The actress says part of her desire to star in such a campaign had to do with the significant impact that eating meat has on the environment.

“‘We just need to pull back as a culture as much as we can,” she said.
