Italian actress, socialite, model and cast member of reality TV show The City, Olivia Palermo, also serves as a fashion inspiration to Orthodox Jewish women according to style blogger Sharon Langert speaking to Buzzfeed, a website that promotes and publishes viral content. She is referring to the tradition of Jewish women in many communities who focus on modest dressing when shopping for clothes.

“Not everything Olivia Palermo wears is modest”,  another Orthodox stylist living in Manhattan, Adi Heyman told the site, but “she does wear a lot of long, flowy skirts and blouses. It’s very classy how she dresses.” Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe also got as special mention as one who “wears a lot of vintage and layers” and is “covered up in [a way] that works for the Orthodox girls.”

The greatest Orthodox style accolades were reserved for Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton whose favorite designer Katherine Hooker told new York Magazine earlier this year that she was inspired by Israeli and Hasidic garb for her entire line of clothing. “I bought a young boy’s Hasidic coat in a junk shop and it was an old one, like when clothes used to be made for people as opposed to mass market,” she said. The bloggers praised the Duchess for her “ladylike” clothes.

“It’s amazing how much fashion is shifting,” Heyman, said, “These days it’s easy to dress modestly and be on-trend.”
