EU Hits Syria With New Sanctions

WSJ – European Union foreign ministers agreed on new sanctions on Syria on Monday, extending a travel ban and asset freeze on six companies and one person, as the bloc’s foreign policy chief expressed concern about the shooting down of a Turkish warplane by Syrian forces.

The ministers also formally approved a deal reached last week to ban insurance and reinsurance of arms shipments to Syria. The EU adopted an arms embargo on Syria last year.
