In a rocket attack from Gaza this morning, a home was hit in the southern Israeli town of Sderot, home to approximately 24,ooo people, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Since the beginning of 2012 over 450 rockets have  hit Israel, already exceeding the number of last year’s attacks. In the month of August alone, over 20 rockets hit Israel, according to an IDF spokesperson communique.

Reacting to the incident newly appointed Home Front Defense Minister Avi Dichter said that Israel will have to alter its deterrence strategy vis-a-vis Gaza-based terrorism, the Jerusalem Post reported.

“Israel cannot tolerate rockets being rained down on it, he said, stressing that Israel needs to initiate at a time of its choosing a process of devising a ‘complete deterrence strategy to stop the terror,'” wrote the Post.

UNFORTUNATELY, ISRAEL IS ALWAYS “RETALIATING” AND CAN’T INITIATE ACTION. ISRAEL DOES NOT HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL AND DOES SHE HAVE PROPHETS.

THE PROBLEM IS THE INHABITANTS OF GAZA. THEY ALLOW THE MILITANTS (AND SOME OF THEM MIGHT BE ONE AND THE SAME) TO COMMIT THESE BARBARIC ROCKET ATTACKS.

PERHAPS THE TIME HAS COME FOR ISRAEL TO STOP CARING ABOUT WORLD OPINION — NOT FROM ANY COUNTRY, THE U.N., THE U.S., ROMNEY OR OBAMA.

IT’S TIME FOR ISRAEL TO SIMPLY FLY OVER GAZA AND DROP LEAFLETS TELLING THE GAZANS TO LEAVE AND THEN SIMPLY CARPET BOMB THE ENTIRE GAZA STRIP INCLUDING THE DECADENT GAZA CITY ITSELF.

IN THE ALTERNATIVE, MAYBE ISRAEL’S FINANCIAL WIZARDS CAN COME UP WITH SOME LEVERAGE OR PLAN TO DEAL WITH THE HOTEL AND PRIME PROPERTY OWNERS IN GAZA AND GET THEM TO STOP THE SHELLING.

Cannot understand why our people dont retaliate first and foremost with power and venom… words are so cheap and the lies politicians peddle are pure fantasy – Abbas is a fantascist – we are too soft, too naive and they just laugh at us.
Now Korea and Iran are on a collision course (jointly) together they can enrich enough uranium to destroy the west…

It’s time to retaliate, in fact it is late….I agree with the writer who wants to know why Israel waits for the attacks.

I’ve answered my own question. The total number of Israelis killed by Qassam rockets in eight years is 23. 16 of those were in Israel, outside of Gaza, and 7 were in Gaza. That is 23 too many.

Dear Chaya your answer is wrong according to official statistics in the last 8 years 55 Israeli were killed by Palestine Arab missile fire targeting Israelies!

      Let’s do the horror-math 4 u :

After the Israeli and Egyptian blockade of Gaza following Operation Cast Lead to stop missile fire into Israel and arms import into Gaza (2009) till today (=3½ years)
10 :: Israeli KILLED by Palestine Arab missile fire
      >160 :: Israeli injured by Palestine Arab missile fire

The 3 years before the Israeli and Egyptian blockade of Gaza following Operation Cast Lead to stop missile fire into Israel and arms import into Gaza (2009) :
34 :: Israeli KILLED by Palestine Arab missile fire
1560 :: Israeli injured by Palestine Arab missile fire

And these are only the wikipedia-statistics!

I agree with Jill about Israel’s patience. What I would like to know is how many casualties or deaths were caused by 450 rockets this year raining down on Israel. I haven’t heard of any and I pray this is true. If someone knows the answer I would appreciate knowing. If what I think is right it is nothing short of a miracle.

I’m from Canada and I doubt Canada and especially our neighbors (either direction) would tolerate this. I can’t understand why serious retaliation isn’t taken. Israel allows a rocket or 2, 3, 4…. before doing something. If you returned a strike immediately Hamas wouldn’t have time to usher in their women and children so you may have less casualties!
