Request to Rename ‘Jew Pond’ Approved

Daily Mail – The U.S. Board of Geographic Names ended a heated dispute over the controversial moniker of a New Hampshire fishing spot this week, approving a town’s request to rename ‘Jew Pond’ for the first time since the 1920s.

With the federal board’s blessing, residents of Mount Vernon recently rechristened the quarter-acre pond Carleton Pond, after one of the town’s founding families.
