iPhone App Gives Jewish Singles a New Way to Find Each Other
by Algemeiner Staff
The next generation of web-based Jewish dating goes beyond simply logging into an account and creating a profile.
Yenta is a new iPhone application that uses location services to allow users to find Jewish singles in their immediate vicinity, while browsing their personal profiles.
“You can walk into a coffee shop and you can find out who’s Jewish and single around you,” Yenta’s creator Luba Tolkachyov told The New York Post.”[The dating site] JDate is kind of the traditional model. To be able to log on to [Yenta], you have to go out. There’s no need for the lengthy profile — now we can see who’s single and near us.”
The application has 10,000 users, who are asked questions such as “What will impress your mother?” and “How Jewish are you?”
