Billboard Releases List of Top 30 Jewish Musicians (VIDEO)

Billboard, one of the oldest trade publications in the world, has been the litmus test for popular success in the music industry for decades. Over the weekend it released its list of the top 30 Jewish musicians to celebrate the beginning of Chanukah.
The list is based on the actual performance of the artist on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 since the chart launched in August 1958, so the results are sales-based rather than indicative of talent or popularity. That’s why Bob Dylan appears at #25 behind less popular names such as Eric Carmen (#23), Taylor Dane (#12) and Paula Abdul (#5). There were some familiar names on the list, however. Lenny Kravitz (#28), KISS (#27), Barbra Streisand (#3) and Simon and Garfunkel (#10) all make an appearance as does Billy Joel, who tops it at number 1.
