One of the Iron Dome batteries recently deployed in the north of Israel has become a target of local Arab youth. Police reportedly arrested a teenager suspected of throwing stones at soldiers stationed near the battery. It was the second time this week such an incident occurred, though the first to conclude with an arrest.

Two batteries were deployed in the north in recent weeks in what Israeli officials said was a routine procedure, but which many see as a sign of the country’s attempts to better defend itself from threats along the border with Syria. The batteries have become somewhat of a tourist attraction for locals, with soldiers telling local media they are harassed at times.

Tuesday it was announced that a third Iron Dome would be deployed in the north. Israel’s Army Radio said it was not in response to any specific threat but simply a response to ratcheted up tension in the region.
