JTA – Left-wing parties from the Spanish autonomous region of Galicia are demanding their local government launch a boycott of Israel by canceling a concert by Israeli singer and peace activist Noa, also known as Achinoam Nini.

In a statement published Saturday on Facebook, the education and culture council of the Galician Left Alternative — a coalition of parties that united last year to form the Galician parliament’s third largest bloc — “condemned the employment of the Israeli singer Noa, whose sympathies to military Zionism are notorious.”

    The Galician parliament is composed of a number of left- of-center groups with various agendas..together they comprise 34 of the 75 parliament seats. The ruling right- of-center PPG (Peoples Party of Galicia)holds 41.
    Of the Galician left the BNG (the Galician National Bloc)is the most vociferously anti-Israel..they love to demonstrate their frustrations.
    It is an area of beautiful coasts and hills north of Portugal-with little Jewish history.
