Israeli President Shimon Peres sent a note of condolence to Queen Elizabeth II a day after two Islamic terrorists slaughtered a British soldier in broad daylight in Woolwich, England on Wednesday.
“I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear of the terrible attack yesterday in London, it was an act of horrific brutality. In my name and on behalf of the people of Israel, I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the family of the victim and to the people of Britain,” Peres’s note began.
“Terrorism is a global threat and one the world must face together. I know that the people of Britain will stand strong in the face of this threat and the state of Israel stands side by side with them.”
A video recorded by one of the two men immediately after the attack suggested a jihadist agenda.
“We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone,” said a meat cleaver-wielding man with bloody hands, speaking in what seems to be a British accent.
“The only reasons we killed this man … is because Muslims are dying daily,” he added, in video aired by ITN. “This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for tooth.”
