At least four Hezbollah fighters came into contact with chemical agents in Syria and are receiving treatment in Beirut, a security source told Lebanon’s The Daily Star on Monday.

According to the anonymous source, four or  five members of the Shiite terror organization came into contact with the chemical toxins in tunnels in and around the Damascus suburb of Jobar over the weekend.

According to the report, it remains unclear what type of chemical agent they encountered, only that it was dispersed in the form of gas.

Last week more than 1,300 Syrians were reportedly killed near Damascus in what rebel forces, battling the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad, allege was a chemical weapons attack on civilians by Syrian forces.

Israel Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon told Israeli daily Israel Hayom that the incident was not the first time chemical weapons had been unleashed in the country, saying that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “has used chemical weapons and it’s not the first time” during the Syrian civil war.
