Sephardic Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

A half-a-million mourners are expected to descend upon Jerusalem to attend the funeral of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the spiritual leader of the country’s Sephardic community who died Monday aged 93, security sources told Israel’s Walla News.

Yosef’s funeral procession is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Porat Yosef Yeshiva, in Jerusalem’s Geula neighborhood, and continue to the Sanhedria Cemetery.

Walla said that several streets on the way to and surrounding the cemetery were expected to be shut down for the funeral.

Rabbi Yosef passed away Monday afternoon at Jerusalem’s Hadassah University Medical Center after battling illness for the last several weeks.
