Following yesterday’s stabbing of an Israeli policeman in Israel’s Benyamin region, Benyamin District Police Commander David Hayon told the ‘Non-Stop’ Israeli morning radio program on Tuesday that there has been a definite increase in terrorist activity in the area.

According to Chief Superintendent Hayon, the escalation in terrorist activity has been characterized by an increase in the amount of, “…stone throwing incidents and occurrences of Molotov Cocktails being hurled at Israeli vehicles.”

As a result of the uptick in violence, “the police have carried out dozens of arrests…” Hayon said.

Regarding Monday’s stabbing, Hayon said that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“We have a number of leads and are working closely with various security agencies including the Shin Bet,” he said, according to Israel’s Channel 10 news.
