Palestinian Authority Leader Claims Israeli Release of Convicts Canceled

Ynet – The Israeli government has backed down from its commitment to release the fourth and last group of Palestinian prisoners on Saturday, Palestinian leader Jibril Rajoub told AFP on Friday. However, it is far from certain any such release was actually scheduled to take place.
“The Israeli government has informed us via the mediator… that it will not comply with the release of the fourth group of prisoners scheduled for Saturday 29,” Rajoub said after a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and U.S. envoy Martin Indyk.
