JNS.org The heads of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of California (UC) statewide system issued dual statements condemning a recent pledge organized by several anti-Israel student groups, including Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace, that had called on UCLA student council candidates to promise not to visit Israel on trips sponsored by Jewish organizations.

UCLA Chancellor Gene Block said in a statement to the campus that he was “troubled” by efforts to “delegitimize educational trips offered by some organizations but not others.”

Block added that political speech which “stigmatizes or casts aspersions on individuals or particular groups does not promote healthy debate, but debases it by trying to intimidate individuals and groups.”

UC President and former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano said she shares “Chancellor Block’s concerns about students at UCLA who target any student seeking to participate in student government who has a relationship with, or wants to travel to, Israel on trips sponsored by certain groups.”

In a letter last week, seven pro-Israel organizations called on UCLA and UC to condemn the pledge.

“The SJP’s motive is clear: to manipulate the composition of the student government so it is filled with anti-Israel activists who support the SJP’s hateful agenda,” the letter stated.

    otherwise I will go back.
15 percent is a good deal better than nothing.

The PM is no happy, we have to give Vladimir 15% or there is no gas field. The PM want to cut Gazprom out we can’t. Vlad is not happy with 15% percent, but he will accept it and the Russian Hizbullah rockets. Sure it is blackmail.

I would like to know why there are so many foreign students at UCLA, when California high school graduates with 4.7 averages can’t get accepted into UCLA. The university system is betraying our California taxpayers and children. Whose decision is this, to allow foreign students and not our own students. This is an outrage.

UCLA administration will no doubt condemn their own decision to ethnically cleanse UCLA of all Jews when they do that too. America loves a war criminal’s apology after the fact.

I’m in shock. I can’t believe the Obama-created Automaton they call “Janet Napolitano” actually condemned these Palestinian groups. There’s gotta be a hook, here…some sort of catch. Unless her brain just had some sort of paradigm shift into reality.

“Shock”? “Can’t believe”? What can’t you believe? That a campus race hate group [SJP] shouldn’t be able to intimidate and bully students seeking an enlightened path? You can’t believe the western values of democracy and individual liberty should trump terrorism, disrepect for diversity and the stifling of free expression. Please expound EG. I’m fascinated you’re even on this web page.

Um, wsg, EG’s shock isn’t from the fact they were condemned, but rather from whom it came from. Of course they should have been condemned, that goes without saying. What’s surprising is that it’s coming from Janet Napolitano. I can only assume you don’t know who she is, or you wouldn’t have misunderstood.

Just go for the trip. Go to Iran after that if it gives perspective. Or Gaza. Then the west bank. Ask how many would wan`t to live in Israel. Hell!!! They are lining up to get there… To Israel. Just for go to work. And get rights like a paycheck. And more..

  • First they have to get rid of the thousands of antisemitic teachers in the California system…starting with San Francisco State.

Chris Rogers apologized for his outrageously insensitive actions. Had he been mocking the Nazis I highly doubt he would have apologized, unless of course he is a Nazi.
