In an appearance on Conan O’Brien on Monday, comedian Gary Vider poked fun at the Birthright Israel program that offers free trips to Israel for Jewish youths.

“There’s a program that sends Jewish people to Israel for free but before they send just anyone, they put you through a screening process to make sure you’re Jewish,” he said on the show. “And they’ll ask you questions. First question they asked me: ‘Are you Jewish?’ I was like, ‘I’m trying to get a free trip, aren’t I?'”

As the audience roared with laughter, the New York native said, “They were like, ‘no further questions.'”

“There are perks to being Jewish,” he added. “I got to go to Israel for free. That’s a good perk.”
