New ‘Russian-American Person of the Year’ Awards Program Unveiled

JNS.org – A new program called “Russian-American Person of the Year” was announced June 11 during the opening of the 12th Annual Russian Heritage Month at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was the keynote speaker for the presentation of the award intended unify Russian-speaking communities in the U.S.
The award is presented by the World Forum of Russian-Speaking Jewry and supported by the American Council for World Jewry. Awards will be given out in the categories of education, leadership, philanthropy, visual art, media, performance and lifetime achievement.
“The Russian-American Person of the Year program aims to highlight the tremendous contributions Russian-Americans have made on all aspects of life in the United States,” said Alexander Levin, President of the World Forum of Russian-Speaking Jewry.
Advisory members of the board of the award include Ambassador Ido Arahoni, Consul General, Consulate General of Israel in New York; Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Laureate; Larry King, Emmy and Peabody Award-Winning Host; Alexander Levin, President of the World Forum of Russian Speaking Jewry; Jack Rosen, President of the American Council for World Jewry, and others.
