Iranian Armed Forces Arrive in Iraq to Fight Sunni Militants

I24News – Iranian military forces arrived at Suleimaniya international Airport in the autonomous northern Kurdistan region of Iraq this week on their way to Kirkuk to defend Shiite shrines from Sunni militants, Asharq al-Awsat reported, according to an Iraqi Kurdish official.

The official, who was not authorized to brief the media, said that a 200-strong elite Iranian military force was granted access to Kirkuk from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), according to Al-Arabiya.
