In perhaps one of the greatest ‘know your audience’ moments ever, an African-American political candidate running in the New York State Senate primaries on Tuesday published a poster calling for the arrival of the Jewish messiah.

“We want Moshiach now!” read the banner, which appeared in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn and was targeting Chabad Lubavitch Chasidic Jews who dominate the community.

“Jesse Hamilton supports the Lubavitch community in Crown Heights in their noble work to bring Moshiach,” the banner explains.

Led by the late Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the sprawling evangelist Chabad Lubavitch movement has developed a reputation for its focus on encouraging “acts of goodness and kindness” which are believed to draw closer the arrival of the Jewish messiah “Moshiach.”
