Actress Emmy Rossum on Tuesday took to Twitter to express approval of a viral video that features non-Jews attempting to chow down traditional Jewish food for the first time.
“This is so funny. I want to memorize every line and be able to quote it. Goys eating Jewish food for the 1st time,” she tweeted.
The clip, produced by BuzzFeed, shows a “Jewish food taste test” where men and women for the first time try gefilte fish, kugel, chopped liver and matzah ball soup, which one taster called “the gateway drug to Jewish food.” The participants ended their meal with rugelach for dessert and a sip of Manischewitz wine.
Last year, Rossum stood up to pop star Justin Bieber who had said, in Holland, that if Holocaust victim Anne Frank were alive today, he hoped she would be one of his fans, a “Belieber.”
Rossum, 27, born in New York City, is the only child of Cheryl Rossum, a Jewish single mother of Russian ancestry who worked as a corporate photographer who instilled the “Jewish code of ethics and morals” in the actress, according to an interview in Shalom Life. Her parents separated when her mother was pregnant, and she only met her father, a Protestant of English and Dutch ancestry, twice, as of 2007, according to USA Today.
