The latest edition of an online English-language magazine published by the Islamic State, “Dabiq,” says the beheading of American-Israeli journalist, 31-year-old Steven Sotloff, is justified as he was a “Jew and citizen of the Jewish state.”

According to the slickly-edited ebook, “The case of Steven Sotloff contains a direct refutation against those who portray western journalism and humanitarian aid as purely innocent, for this man was a Jew and citizen of the Jewish state.”

The Pinecrest, FL, native, made aliyah (emigrated to Israel) and studied at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya from 2005 to 2008.

“Dabiq is a place in Syria that is supposed to be the location for one of the final battles according to certain Muslim myths about a final apocalypse. Choosing such a name for the magazine highlights the Caliphate’s goals,” according to The Clarion Project.

Noting Sotloff’s work with The Jerusalem Post and The Jerusalem Report, the terror group also pointed to his journalism with “crusader media including TIME, National Interest, Foreign Policy, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Long War Journal…”

The terror group, who released a gruesome video of his decapitation on September 2nd, claimed in the glossy propaganda sheet that “Sotloff was executed in retaliation for the numerous Muslims killed in Iraq by the US.”

A spokesman for Steven Sotloff’s family told Politico that the slain American journalist was sold to the Islamic State by Syrian rebels and said the Obama administration “could have done more” to save him.

According to ISIS leader abu Bakr Al-Bagdhadi, in the same edition, “The Iraqi Jihad brought back life to jihadi regions which had weakened a bit after their strength. It also prepared the path for attacking the Jewish State and retaking Baytul-Maqdis (a latter Arabic corruption of the original Biblical Hebrew term, “Beit Hamikdash” – The “Holy Temple” in Jerusalem).
