JNS.org Amid the recent spate of Arab violence in Jerusalem, the Tel Aviv municipality decided to cancel several school field trips to the Israeli capital, Israel Hayom reported.

The decision was made in response to requests by parents, who voiced concern for the safety of their children. The field trips, originally planned as a bar mitzvah event for eighth graders, would have taken the students to the Western Wall and to Ammunition Hill, where an Arab terrorist rammed a car into a crowd of people last week, killing a 3-month-old girl and injuring eight others.

Jerusalem’s parents’ association wrote in a letter to Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and Tel Aviv parents, “Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, houses the most important sites to the history of the Jewish people, as well as the present and the future of the State of Israel. … Forgoing this trip would be a great loss.”
