IAI's Barak-8 missile launcher. Photo: Wikimedia Commons. – The Israeli defense firm Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced that it successfully tested the jointly developed Israel-India Barak-8 air and missile defense system by shooting down a target that simulated an incoming aircraft.

“The system’s impressive, advanced capabilities proven today in this complex test, are another testimony of IAI’s resilience, advanced and groundbreaking capabilities,” said Joseph Weiss, IAI’s President and CEO, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The Barak-8 system was jointly developed by India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and will be used by the Indian Defense Forces as well.

The test was conducted in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Defense and is expected to be rolled out on Israeli Navy ships to protect against incoming aircrafts or missiles.
