If Settler Blood is Cheap, Tel Aviv’s Blood is Cheaper

In the aftermath of the Palestinian terrorist knifing-murder of Sgt. Almog Shiloni, the Israeli crowds in Tel Aviv were furious. It was reported that angry Tel Avivian residents shouted “Our blood is not cheap,” at Israeli Minister Aharonovitch. “Go comfort mourners at the terrorists’ homes!” one woman shouted at him as he walked by. “The leftists are responsible for all this. They’re the ones shedding our blood; our blood is not cheap,” another man shouted at the Minister, who did not respond, according to Israel’s Channel 2 News. Well Jewish citizens of Tel Aviv, I’ve got a news flash for you: As long Tel Avivians consider Jewish “settlers'” blood as cheap, Tel Aviv’s Jewish blood will be even cheaper.

What do Israelis think the Palestinian Arabs see when they see Israeli society and Israeli leftist politicians derogate Israelis in Judea and Samaria? The Palestinians see a divided Israeli Jewry that is busy attacking the bravest of Israel’s citizens who are willing to put their families’ bodies and lives on the line to protect Tel Aviv from Katyusha rocket barrages. And true to the Orwellian world of the Leftists, the Leftists blame the “settlers” for the failure of peace, Gaza’s rockets, and for Palestinian terrorism.

Take MK Gal-On, head of Meretz. She recently said “Regrettably, Netanyahu is willing to sacrifice the residents of the south, so as not to pay the price that will be required for real negotiations, toward an eviction of settlements and the advancement of a diplomatic horizon.” So, to Gal-On, residents in the south have Gaza rockets fired on them because Israel won’t give Hamas a West Bank Palestinian state. To Gal-On, and the entire Left of Israel, Israel’s retreating from Gaza has nothing to do with Gaza’s rockets on the South of Israel. It’s only Israel’s failure to retreat from the West Bank and divide Jerusalem that is causing the rockets to be fired from Gaza.

Now, as long as people in Tel Aviv and Haifa vote for leaders like Gal-On and the Leftist stooges in Labor, Tel Aviv should expect Palestinians to consider Tel Aviv’s Jews’ blood to be cheap. As long as people in Tel Aviv and Haifa don’t understand that the terrorists despise all Israelis, they should expect Palestinians to murder Tel Aviv’s Jews like they are flies.

Hezbollah Says Two Obstacles Remain for Lebanon Government

The leader of Lebanon's Iran-backed terrorist group Hezbollah said on Saturday that two obstacles remain before the formation of a...

Twenty-one years ago, on November 12, 1993, I authored a full-page ad in the New York Times that was funded by a group of courageous American Jews. The last paragraph I wrote 21 years ago about the Israeli settlers in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza is as true today as it was then:

The geographic positions of the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, which are being accorded pariah status by the Rabin Government, were very carefully and strategically situated along:

a.    The Western Samarian mountain aquifer, on a N-S axis to secure this vital water source;

b.    The Trans-Samarian Highway on the E-W axis which serves as the only supply line to the Jordan River Valley-Allon Line of Defense which even Mr. Rabin claims is vital to Israeli national security;

c.     The mountainous perimeters of Jerusalem in order to prevent Israel’s eternal capital from becoming another topographically entrapped Sarajevo.

Far from being “obstacles to peace,” these heroic Israeli citizens represent Israel’s only bulwark against annihilation. To abandon these patriots and the land they protect, is at best based on wishful thinking, and at worst a combined act of extreme recklessness and national suicide. By differentiating these Israeli citizens from those within the Green Line, the Rabin Government is delivering a clear signal that these Jewish men, women, and children are fair game for Israel’s most implacable foes. And this is unacceptable!

Not bad for 21 years ago. The only thing I would add now is that by Tel Avivians making Jewish settlers of Judea and Samaria into “fair game for Israel’s most implacable foes,” the Tel Avivians have made themselves fairer “game for Israel’s most implacable foes.” Until the Jews of Tel Aviv realize that the settlers are their first line of defense from being eradicated by a Palestinian terrorist West Bank state, then they should expect the Palestinian terrorist murders in Tel Aviv to accelerate, and to continue to have their blood be valued as “cheap.”
