A Jewish legislator in Rockland County is living in fear following the receipt of a threatening picture in which his face is superimposed on the body of a prisoner about to be beheaded by the Islamic State terrorist organization.

Legislator Aron Wieder (D-Spring Valley,) said the chilling color image was sent in an envelope postmarked from Monsey to his county office and that he opened it while the Legislature was in session on Monday.

“I opened the letter and I was completely shocked. I literally had shivers running down my spine,” Wieder said afterwards. “It’s meant to intimidate and to shock. If it’s someone who is sympathetic toward ISIS or someone who is hateful toward the Orthodox community is no matter, it’s equally disgusting.”

The legislator excused himself from county business and walked the picture over to Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco, who had been in attendance at the session.

US Jewish Groups Praise Tillerson’s Renewal of State Department Antisemitism Envoy

US Jewish groups reacted with praise and relief on Tuesday to the news that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is...

“It’s currently under investigation,” Falco said. “We’re taking this very seriously as a threat and will be working with our partners in law enforcement and the FBI to try to track down who sent this.”

Wieder, who said the name written on the envelope was “Moshe Muhammad,” could not speculate about the image’s sender, but believes the intent is clear.

Law enforcement officials are working with the FBI to track down who sent the letter, Pix 11 reported.

“I lock my doors at night, but life goes on and you hope for the best. You have to have full confidence in law enforcement,” Wieder said.

This man under threat lives in the USA. Unlike Israel where I understand that most every citizen have an obligation to serve in the military in defense of the nation,It is not so here. We have a sort of a mercenary unit hired to follow politicians desires. The average folks children do this duty. I have great respect for these young folks. But even in the days of Vietnam we had a special class of citizen who were able to opt out on combat units or even military service. Then it became all volunteer. Many had their jobs shipped across the borders so decided to serve to feed their families. Many it was patriotism. But most got trained in effective defense. But a large segment stayed in money making positions or became well educated . They look to the police to keep them safe. Times have changed. These guys better learn the art of battle and fend for themselves. It is a matter of economics. Do you want the lives of your family trusted to an underpaid security guard or a union policeman? What price is that of you and your family worth? If you notice the riots over the years there is considerable damage and injury with the police standing and watching the fun as observers. But our liberals want us to serve as biological targets for madmen. Now we have a drug epidemic to increase the concerns.

Islam (submission) rules by intimidation. The penalty for anything seen as deviating from a rigid interpretation of the Koran is seen as blasphemous and punishable by death. These are not a handful of extremists committing atrocities as President Obama wants you to believe and has said in describing Islam as a peaceful loving religion, these are deviant intolerant Muslim fanatics who see anyone who does not accept Islam and Sharia law as an Infidel who does not deserve to live….and passivity will not make them go away nor inoculate anyone from their wrath.

We in Israel have imagined for some time that this kind of tactic. real or prank.would be happening in the U.S. where folks seem to feel that their personal liberties are more likely at risk when it is actually national security that it is at stake
Israel has had sixty years of practice and although every man, woman, and child is alert to danger, incidents still occur.Without panicking you should cooperate with authorities so that terrorists’ plans can be more easily thwarted or deterred altogether..

How sick some people are because they cannot get what they want immediately. They should learn from the late Nelson Mandela who waited in prison for many years. Having been released he set up a reconciliation team to bring together those who were at war with each other.
This set South Africa back on the right path.
This is the season of Peace on earth goodwill TO ALL MEN. Some people think it applies to others not to them

He locks his doors at night.WOW! Does he think that terrorist look upon a lock as the end of a mission? He needs to remove himself from his elected office and put an Israeli ex paratrooper in his chair. In former times the enemy stayed out on the battlefield for the privates to tend to.We awoke in a new world in recent times. We need men up at the top positions instead of desksitting paper slingers. The wars followed the troops home. The cannon fodder is no longer the exclusive venue of the infantry private. I suggest this man go look for a set of balls.

Shame. The cowards of islam should not be allowed to threaten any citizens of this country. They have been allowed to get away with their hateful behavior for far too long.

  • steven L

A typical Jewish wishful fallacy: the believe that they are protected from violent antisemitism wherever they live.
Even in the US, this is an illusion. But then as long as denial exists there is no need to confront reality and one can always side with the enemy!

  • Leo Toystory

Judging by the usage of a combination Jewish and muslim name the photo was most likely sent by someone who dislikes both Jews and muslims and/or who has either a personal or political grudge against Mr. Wieder.

  • Sofia Bain

It is someone’s filthy way of threatening innocent people.
Hopefully, the FBI will find this individual, unfortunately, there are a lot of sickos in the world that would jump on something like this.

    May G-d protect you.

  • Debra Michels

Everybody – pray for Aron Wieder! If it’s Hashem’s will that he be martyred, pray for him, his family and his community – and our country – to deal with that in a godly way, but if it isn’t Hashem’s will – pray for Mr. Wieder’s survival – that he thrive, along with all other Jews and also all other American citizens…

Pray that law enforcement track down whoever sent this threatening letter to him, and that our country and everywhere else in the world be finally rid of people who believe in killing others rather than recognizing our common humanity and dialoguing about our differences instead of killing each other over them.

Mr. Weider, this is just to let you know that someone knows and is thinking of you. I hope the police are as good as on the detective shows. In the meantime, you might consider taking shooting lessons at a local gun range, and apply for one, hoping you never have to use it.

Does the legislator have a weapon for protection or does the liberal state of New York forbid his owning a weapon?

  • Sonny

Law enforcement are just men. Trust in GOD (seek his face). In Isa 55, He offers the confirmed mercies of David (read the psalms), and He will beat down your enemies before your face. Works for me……

Why can’t I see the Comments? Why are my comments still under moderation?

  • Good, maybe now he will support Israel.

Our dream is to help improve Israel’s environment by reducing the amount of cattle used, reducing the amount of water used and reducing the amount of cattle feed used and reducing the amount of cattle losses; while still producing the same amount of meat and improving its quality. Help Israel’s ranchers make a profit by reducing their costs and losses. Help Israel learn to use desert cattle that are adaptable to Israel’s hostile desert environment, Texas Longhorn cattle.

Help us reach our goal of $275,000 to start the project. A nominal donation of $250 from 1100 generous supporters will get the project started. So please help and spread the word. I cannot do this alone. Robin 650-631-9270 http://longhornproject.org Together we can make it a reality.

  • BY A LUGER AND SHOT GUN ALSO A SO-CALLED WELSH KNIFE. THEY ARE COWARDS ONLY. IF THE REALLY COME THEN FIGHT!!!

  • shloime

full confidence in law enforcement, and a loaded gun, goes a lot further than just confidence.

  • noellsq

The government will probably call it a work related incident.

  • Larry

I suggest Wieder arms himself and takes classes on both gun security and how to use them. Relying on law enforcement alone is not enough.

  • Hank

The bigger problem is that you live in New York. here in a red state I am free to arm myself and get a carry permit too. There is no defense like self-defense. By the time police get to your location all they’ll probably need is a body bag. You must protect yourself so have a prayer of net being another statistic.

  • ralph levitt

You can have more confidence in your own weapon——–
    buy a shotgun

  • Theodore Sternberg

I’m guessing it’s from a rival of some sort in the Satmar community there. Calling him “Moshe Muhammad” in fact implies some kind of obscure accusation of apostacy. I don’t expect any beheading is imminent.

  • Ivan Gur-Arie

So nowo the left will say that freedom of speech is being negated. After all it is a threat only against a Jew. We all know how terrible the Jews are. They are not oppressed like the Blacks, Hispanics, Women, Gays and Transgenders. Thosoe groups named are the only ones the left is concerned about.
