J Street.

J Street.

JNS.orgMore than 70 percent of the federal legislators who have announced their intent to skip Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s March 3 speech to a joint session of Congress about the Iranian nuclear threat are endorsed by the self-labeled “pro-Israel, pro-peace” lobby J Street.

J Street has endorsed 18 of 24 House of Representatives members and two of four U.S. senators who are skipping Netanyahu’s speech, according to the lobby’s announcements of endorsements for elections in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

In advance of Netanyahu’s speech, J Street has distributed an online petition opposing the speech on the grounds that the prime minister of Israel “is not the spokesman for all Jews.”

US Jewish groups reacted with praise and relief on Tuesday to the news that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is...

The J Street-endorsed members of Congress skipping Netanyahu’s speech include U.S. Sens. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.), as well as U.S. Reps. I won’t pretend that I read all the email comments above, but I get the gist. I just wonder how Bibi would like it if the opposition party(ies) invited Obama to speak at the Israeli and he ordered Bibi to make a deal with the Palestinians. Just think about it!

  • Norman Shapiro

Did the Algemeiner headline editors deliberately write a headline that some would wuickly scan and think that 70% of the US legislators are boycotting Netanyahu?

  • nelson marans

The donations by J Street to candidates for office who are mainly anti-Israel, defines that pro-Arab group and its anti-Israel credentials. It is about time that J Street identifies itself as a supporter of President Obama’s attitude toward Israel, with both threatening the very existence of the Jewish state.

  • BARBARA BLUMBERG

I’m with BiBi 100%. He is probably the one who knows the most of the Iran situation. He and the people of Israel live with the threat of Iran’s nuclear powers more than anyone else. Their lives are the most threatened. Netanyaho should be listened to for the most up to date and informative information available. Obama and his cohorts think that they can believe anything that the Iranis say they will do. You can’t believe a word. They say what they want and then do anything other than that.

    • Lori Maslow

Bibi speaks for me and I stand 100% with him and Israel. Shame on all the senators not attending. But what do you expect? They can’t even agree on a budget for Homeland Security. They all feel themselves to be above the law and exempt form Obamacare. They do not work hard – with the exception of those representing NY – a hard state as is- and do nothing except abuse the privileges they have.
      Go Bibi go!
I wish I could be there!
Israel does not pull any punches. Iran is a threat to the world. This administration just doesn’t get it.

  • manley kiefer

Netanyahu doesn’t claim to represent every Jew as Obama doesn’t represent every American but both represent their country.

  • manley kiefer

I don’t want to miss Netanyahu’s speech. Whether they attend or not, I doubt if many will miss the long awaited speech. We’re with you 100% Bibi.

  • Diane Hewitt

It’s shameful that these American elected officials are so close-minded that they can not even listen to a speech given by a staunch ally of the US. Americans know how to pull more than one set of levers in the ballot box ( or whichever of the 50 styles of voting your area uses).

  • Antoinette Walker

As an American, as well as a Jewish American, it is sad to know that an elected official cannot be open-minded enough to realize the position of Israel and their perspective that any deal with Iran would harm Israel.
Listening and educating yourself harms no one. What message is an elected official sending if they believe they have nothing to learn from an American ally?

  • T. Donahue

Would these same Senators have given their approval of President Obama’s meeting with the Muslim Brotherhood last week behind closed doors? Is this high level of Hypocrisy going to be the continual standard for these political sheep lacking any gonadal fortitude?

Our country is in very real danger and these sheep politicians wink at the Muslim Brotherhood, an avowed enemy of many Arab nations and the USA, and these spineless politicians won’t listen to a staunch alley from Israel who is very up to date on what is happening in Iran in real time. These gutless senatorial cowards should be more then ashamed of themselves. They are treasonous in their actions, and the blood of their negligence is on their hands should the radicals hit our country; when information about their radical actions and intent could have been discovered by listening to PM Netanyahu. Disgusting to say the least.

  • Marco Redwolf

PM Netanyahu never said that he speaks for all Jew yet that accusation is being thrown around as if he actually said it. That’s the classic straw man tactic right out of Saul Alinsky’s playbook. The one that our boy president uses in every other sentence. ” There are those who say..who want.. who will.. etc.. No names , just the straw man. As far as the above mentioned cowards, self loathing Jews and the ( all too common ) Congressional Anti Semitic Black Caucus( Yes that’s what they are )I would like to hear from them exactly what part of his speech they disagree with.

  • G-d will strike down all those who go against Israel. Democrats included.

  • “Endorsed by J-Street” may turn out to be a negative in the next congressional elections. Besides, they say ‘they oppose the speech” . . .since when does a statesman have to ask permission from J-Street to give a speech . . . and “because Netanyahu does not speak for all Jews?” HE IS THE PRIME MINISTER OF ISRAEL, he speaks for Israel and all the Jews who understand that without Israel they are back to the Dark Ages when they were nothing but second-rate, barely tolerated “dhimmis” who could be expelled and/or murdered at the whim of the head of the state they were living in. Hitler was not an isolated incident in history – there were pogroms in almost every state of Europe and in the Arab world.
Some people ought to study history before embarrassing themselves. posting stuff that exhibits their complete ignorance.

  • E benAbuya

Is J-Street going to host a megila reading? A Purim shpiel? Any recognition of the holiday at all? How “J” can their Street possibly be; if they aren’t?
Maybe they just don’t want to be reminded of Mordechai’s reply, to Esther’s qualms about violating “protocol”, when Am Yisroel lies under existential threat.
‘Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.’ (Esther 4:13)
I can’t believe that an actual Liberal thinks that suppressing the expression of a contrary idea is a Liberal principle. It is, in fact, a Reactionary position; according to John Stewart Mill.

  • Mireille Mechoullam

Shame on all those who are boycotting Bibi’s speech and all the members of J Street who are working with the enemies of Israel making their false movement as Pro-Israel. I thought free speech is a hallmark of the free people!

  • RobiMac

Every last one of them need to go with vice jackass Biden to his undisclosed location and never come back!

  • steven L

Obviously these 28 individuals may have personal valid reasons to skip. But if it is ideological, they are simply ANTI-American. And some will pay a price on due time.
Who in his/her right mind can be pro-American and believe that it is in the interest of the US, the world for a fanatical leadership to have access to nuke bombs? They already are Nb ONE in conducting and supporting international terrorism.

  • Thomas

We as Americans need to listen and at least hear what Netanyahu has to say and than applaud him or ask him to leave. But I’m leaning on applauding not only his speech as well as his presence.
Remember he lives in a region that is infested with hate against Jews.

  • Yale

Can you imagine the response that would come from J Street if Zionistic Jews boycotted a speech to Congress by a Left-wing Israeli politician because such people don’t actually represent the views of Israelis or most American Jews?

  • Jerry Rosenberg

J Street has the reputation of anti-Israel rhetoric, bordering on the ridiculous. They are pro arab and where
does their funding come from? J street does not speak for me or any other Jewish person I know.
Their agenda is not to help Israel or Jews any where. So
what is their purpose? Are they out to help the antis
destroy the Jewish State. They must be treated as an enemy, not a friend.

  • Bernard

And they call themselves Democrats ???????????

  • Howard Rosen

J street to me are a bunch of self hating Jews.
They get more press then they deserve.
To support Obama a president as bad as Carter was to Israel I really don’t understand.

  • suzanne whitney

    I support Netanyahu 100%.

  • victoria brandeis

J STREET IS NOTHING BUT A COMPLICATION OF PEOPLE , WOMEN, MEN, YOUTHFUL CHATTELS OF THE ABOVE WHO ALL ARE MISFITS IN THE NORM.

THEY ARE INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT ACCEPTED IN THE SOCIETY OF MOST AMERICANS…THEY NEITHER FIT INTO THE ROLE OF ‘JEWS’, NOR DO THEY FIT INTO THE CLAUSE OF ACCEPTABLES…..

THEY BELIEVE THEMSELVES TO BE THE GOLDEN GROUP OF SOROS BUT IN TRUTH ARE NOTHING BUT A REPLICA OF THE GOLD BITS AND PIECES THAT FORM PART OF THIS PLANET….HATEFUL AND TOO ODD AND PERFECT TO FIT WITHIN OUR SOCIETY.

SO WHY DO YOU THINK THEY HAVE IMPACT….A JOKE….PROVIDE ME WITH THE LABEL OF RABBI’S GREAT LEADERS AND MORE WHO HAVE SOMETHING TO CONTRIBUTE AND I MAY LISTEN….

NOW ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT THIS SHAMEFUL ORGANIZATION OF ZOMBIES MAKE THIS RELIGIOUS JEWISH WOMEN GLAD TO BE A RETURNING SOUL TO SHOMER MITZVA’S……

TO EVEN THINK THAT THESE SOULS WOULD CHASE ME DOWN THE STREET, RAPE ME FOR MY PROTESTS AGAINST AMERICAN VIEWS IS ENOUGH TO CRUMBLE THE WEAKEST.

BULLYING OTHER JEWS IS SHAMEFUL AND I TRUST THAT YOU WILL DEFINITELY BE PUNISHED.

THIS IS HORRID FOR TIMES BUT SOME GOOD HAS COME TO VIEW…..WE ALL LIVE IN THE TIME OF MIRACLES AND AS OF TODAY I WILL MAKE THAT SPECIAL PRAYER……..IF HASHEM WAS NOT VISIBLE
DURING THIS TIME……WE WOULD HAVE ALL BEEN KAPUT.

    THANK YOU FOR THE MIRACLES

  • We should know j street is an organization of self hating Jews, because they are jewish they give credence to all the anti Semites. If you are what you are it is difficult to sway in a different way of thinking. It sad that I have to live this long to see anti semitism rise to the level of nazi Germany’.

  • I’m amazed! If we all want good in this nation, if we want to live in peace, it would behoove us to be in unity with Israel and to stand with her and Gods people especially at this time.
‘A house divided will fall’. I suggest that if these who call themselves Jews are really true Jews they would love the Land that God gave them and they would want to protect the Land and their people.
“If you are not for me you are against me”. These are Gods own Words. There are many warnings in the bible about those who come against Israel & His people! Those who divide the land. It will not go well with them.
I am praying that the Fear of Almighty God will fall on all who are opposing going to this speach of president Netanayu . This is not just about America but the nation of this earth. Chose today who you will serve! Serve God or serve your own selfish beliefs! No fence to sit on! 2 Cronicles 7:14

  • Samuel J. Savitz

Although I respect those who harbor opinions that differ from my own, I find it difficult to understand how boycotting Netanyahu’s speech serves the interest of peace. To the contrary, boycotting only serves to add to the divineness that already exists and is an affront (more so than the protocol issue that is alleged to be the motivation for the boycott) to the leader of one of America’s most steadfast allies. Nothing will be gained, but possibly, much will be lost.

  • Harry Houdini

Interesting. Outside of all the politics the boycott will be “laundered” by our enemies and misunderstood by our friends and will be another step towards prolonging the Islamists who want the total destruction of our way of life….

  • noellsq

It is my opinion that all the politicians that do not attend the speech are not for the good of the people that put them in office. These people are only interested in what the Emperor wishes. These are the same people that are directed by their party and hell with the rest. The prime minister does not speak for the Jews but does speak for what he perceives as the dangers of giving in to Iran.

  • Paul Cerar

On the other hand, it is much more respectable to honestly boycott someone you consider an enemy, rather than to show up and harass him.

    Paul Cerar
    Toronto, Canada

    • Fritz Kohlhaas

      Netanyahu is NOT the enemy!

      • Paul Cerar

        They are his enemies.

  • Emanuel

Bibi absolutely without question speaks for me.

  • That J Street is even an issue in the pro-Israel community
is beyond my comprehension. It was obvious from the onset
that J Street is anti-Israel organization masquerading as
a Zionist organization. When has J Street ever endorsed
a strong military or political stance by Israel?

  • Perhaps Bibi Netanyahu will not speak for me, though I think it is always worth to hear or read what he has to say!
    Robert de Swaan Arons

  • bibi speaks for me sorry you sold out to out to iran

  • Wm. J. Levy

J Street doesn’t speak for me.

These Jews are the ones who act and speak like GUESTS in our country because they might be rich, they are weak and insecure.

Jews are embarrassed that Israel is so strong when for almost 2,000 years Jews were admonished by their rabbis to behave weak so their host country and king wouldn’t have to worry about them causing trouble. Even the Book of Esther was removed from the Torah because it had Jews slaughtering those Assyrians who were going to wipe them out with Hamen.

Perhaps if Jews had remembered the Purim story they could have prevented the Holocaust in the 1920’s

  • Every US representive listed as well as every member of J Street is a virulent antisemite as per the wise and prescient words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr spoken in March 1968: ” When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You’re talking antisemitism”.

  • Cynthia

Bibi need not worry about these people skipping, it will be better without them anyway. They are among the most Liberal or the non politically referred terms of Socialists and Communists, with Ellison being a Muslim detractor that there is in the Congress. So it will be better without them.
God bless Israel and her people.

  • Pierre Elie Mamou

of course J Street-endorsed members does’nt worry about Iran nuclear aiming at Israel, they’ll skip the first bomb, maybe not the further. It reminds me of some Jews whou thought smiling to nazies would make them survive

  • Stella schindler

Well, Charles Rangel has never spoken for me.

  • Reuben Modek

Mr. Netanyahu is well meaning but narrow minded. His appearance is tainted by the partisan politics both in America and Israel. His visit, I believe, is harming the Jewish community in America. This is a true disgrace. I do not trust Iran and believe that they pose a real threat to Israel and beyond. I trust Mr. Netanyahu even less, though. As a Jewish Israeli American Bibi does not represent me.
    Sincerely,
    Reuben

  • Robby

It sickens me that some Jewish members of Congress are boycotting Bibi’s speech. They are damned kapos.

  • Lammie

In advance of Netanyahu’s speech, J Street has distributed an online petition opposing the speech on the grounds that the prime minister of Israel “is not the spokesman for all Jews.” J Street always has the chutzpa to tell us what to do in Israel. They are also not the spokesmen for all the Jews. They do not live here in Israel. They undermine all our endeavours with nonsensical ideas and declarations. I consider them to be not part of the solution, but part of the problem. Israel, who is the main and first target of the Iranian Bomb, has no say in the agreement being arranged by the 5+1. The 5+1 are deciding our fate. Our very existence is in extreme danger. Nobody in J. Street is here in Israel worrying constantly, day in and day out, about what is going to happen to their children and grandchildren. The fear and the tension and the anxiety are not shared by the so-called pro-Israel J. Street. I am an elderly grandmother. I endure these emotions every day and every night. I am old – my children and grandchildren are not. I want them to live. For every Jewish death caused by the Arabs, I consider J Street to be partly responsible. They contribute very considerably to Jew hatred. The anti-semityes love to qoute J Street. The lives of millions of Jews are once again in danger, and J Street are unmoved. They should also remember that if the Iranians bomb Israel, the Arab citizens of Israel and those living in Judea and Samaria would also be part of the mushroom cloud. The Iranians could not care less about killing Arabs – those Arabs that go up in smoke will be declared Holy Martyrs! The Jews will just be more dead Jews, and most of the world would hardly care. There would just be the terrible problem for the nations about who would take in the Jewish survivors, if there are any. Any offers? I bet not. The Arab survivors would be provided for by the U.N. in perpetuity.

  • Israel is created for the persecuted jews only by Lord Balfour. So it is correct that The prime minister is not speaking for all jews. The neturi kartha slave jews do not need any home at all. Iran is enough for them

  • Werner Strasser

Thanks for list of the members of congress who exhibit a total lack of wisdom. It wouldn’t come as a surprise should their action to please Obama back fire.

  • J STEET should know that BENJAMIN NETANYAHU dose not speak for all the Jews, but he certainly speaks for the majority. Thank g-d the self hating morons of J STEET are in minority .

  • SILENCE is NOT safety!
    Bibi MUST speak!
Bibi must tell Congress and Americans that Obama threatened to SHOOT DOWN IAF!
Obama wants to help Muslims wipe out Israel –
    and Jews want this too????

  • Shame on those Senators and Congress members who skip PM Netanyahu speech in the House of Congress. They are cowards and traitors. They don’t deserve to represent people of America.

  • Harold Rosenthal

I will only financially support federal legislators who consider Israel’s continued existence more important then the slight by not asking for our President’s permission this time to speak before Congress.

  • Arthur Hausman

J Street doesn’t represent my voice as an American or a Jew.
I want to hear Netanyahu’s speech, as he speaks as the leader of Israel.
Obama has once again shown how devisive he is as president and a supporter of Israel. With Obama its always Politics first.
The congress people boycotting the speech are showing that they are politicians first.

  • Howie Subnick

Any one who does NOT attend should have their balls cut off! If Iran drops a nuclear bomb on Israel, what country do you think will be next? THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Israel is prepared, prepared more than the United States, thats for sure. The PM of Israel pulls no puches, he tells it like it is, not like Obama and Kerry who don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. His speech should be recorded and played over and over and over again until it sinks into the heads of those morons in Washington. God Bless Us All!

  • Richard S. Resnick

Have all the Senators and Representatives polled their constituents to see if they want their reps to not attend the speech or are they expressing their own individual bias? which is being paid for by J-Street. Who most of us consider anti-Semites.
If they have not polled the people they represent, they are acting in an unconstitutional manner and shame on them all!!!!!
Their constituents should rise up and denounce them all.

  • henry zerg

May J St. and the list of vermin like members of Congress rot in hell. They are the 21st century equivalent of the Fifth Column.

  • Efram

Nothing new here. J Street would endorse them if they openly supported Hamas, Hezbollah, and all the other jihadist monsters. Rangel should be ashamed of himself.

  • richard mallin

the ones that are boycotting Netanyahu, are doing so out of fear. afraid of retribution, and they want to show that they’re in his camp no matter what. It’s a shame we have so many cowards who show their true color.

  • Harry Czeiger

J Street and its members are yellow livered, misguided, recalcitrants.
They will wake up one day to their misguided mistake and may they experience the gut wrenching guilt they deserve. Personally, I find their action disgusting and despicable.
    Shame on you all!

  • starr61

All I can say is it’s disgusting…and having lived in Hawaii and knowing Senator Schatz and his family am truly disappointed!

  • zbrk

In early November next year, voters in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois (two chances), Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota (two chances), New York, Oregon (two chances), South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington will have at least one chance to tell at least one of their “representatives” how they feel about being one of the “see no” or “hear no” J Street monkeys.

  • If J Street’s view is that Netanyahu does not speak for all Jews, why do they take upon themselves the right to distance themselves from the Israeli prime minister? They are not Israeli, and have not served in it’s army or paid taxes to the Israeli government. They assume a connection where none exists , if what they say is true. Obviously, they have not thought this through.

  • Dave

I wonder if Charles Rangel decided not to run for a Congress again, cause I sure don’t know very many New Yorkers who will give him their vote in the aftermath of his decision to boycot Bibi

  • Peter Joffe

If anyone represents the Jewish people it is Ben Netanyahu and I am proud to have him represent all of us.
    J. Street does not live within striking range of a nuclear blast, as of yet but, if he ignores the threat of Islam and Muslims he soon will be. There are none so deaf as those who will not hear and Street and his supporters are some of those. Democracy commands us to listen to all diverse opinions and in the case of Ben Netanyahu it is not ‘opinion’, it is in depth knowledge of the threats that Israel and the world face. Even if Ben only represents 1/2 the world’s Jewry he must be heard.

  • J STREET MEMBERS ARE TODAY’S KAPOS, SO-CALLED RABBIS WHO GAVE THE GERMAN OCCUPIERS THE NAMES/LIST WHO SHOULD BE HERDED TO THE DEATH CAMP. THEY BELIEVED WOULD BE SAVED. WRONG! THEY WERE GASSED AS WELL.
J STREET ARE THE TRAITORS NOT OF ISRAEL BUT THE US

  • Joe Honick

If only all the anti-Semitic blowhards like Chomsky et al and Arab Islamists had the guts to speak their minds, they might be more credible. We do not k now what Bibi will say, yet many of the same alleged free speech lefties who defended the right of the Iranian president to speak in New York months ago want to condemn Netanyahu.
Hypocrisy is the enemy of free speech and honesty.

  • SHmuel HaLevi

Well, the Jewish people in Eretz Israel now know who they are. Absolutely no loss at all if they skip Mr. Netanyahu’s speech.
They will follow the fast approaching end of the unJewish organization part of the Soros and others supported system.
Mr. Netanyahu has only one chance to repair many years of his and others poor judgment by allowing our enemies to “negotiate” with Iran. No punting to the “world”, fumbling under pressure, or making faces while painting red lines on cardboard props.
He must call names and directly set time lines for action before the Islamic murderers get the bomb.

  • Florence

They are all a bunch of losers. They have no brains of their own and they emulate those with no brains. They run the other way when things get tough instead of reasoning it out. They’ll pay for it in the next election. J Street is a radical, rabble-rousing organization who heritage comes from Chamberlain.

  • Alexander Polyak

When anti-Semites of this country start pogroms, this renegades will not defend you, J-Street idiots, Bibi and State of Israel will.
G-d bless Erez Israel and her prime minister. People of Israel will overcome, we always do!

  • Elliott Sadle

“Interesting” that J Street endorses such known Anti Semites as Ellison & McDermott. They can’t claim to be pro Israel.

    Jstreet is toxic for jews

  • morris bergstein

j street isn’t Jewish, therefore it cannot comment on Jewish issues.
it is a group who have adopted left wing socialism as their religion and have only some claim to having Jewish genes while having no Jewish ideology.
Netanyahu speaks for his country Israel every bit as much as the present occupier of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave
    speaks for the USA

  • Jonah

The rat pack! If america was being attacked by IsIs they would have their red scarfs hanging out their windows having previously made a deal with the jihadists to protect themselves from beheading. They are the anti Rahabs just as Jstreet is. Wolves amoungst the flock. Minions of a jihadist mein kauf. At least you know who the enemy is.
