Terrorist organizations in Gaza are busy rearming, Israel’s NRG reported on Tuesday. In the six months since last summer’s Operation Protective Edge – and with Gaza’s restoration in sight – armed Islamist groups in the coastal enclave have been preparing for their next fight. Gaza’s ruling Hamas has already declared that it is ready for the next war with Israel, and now Palestinian Islamic Jihad has joined them.

The fighters in PIJ’s armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigade, told a BBC reporter that they also intend to follow Hamas’ lead in digging tunnels and using them against Israel. They’ve decided to adopt this tactic because of the effectiveness of the tunnels against Israel in last summer’s conflict, according to the report.

Quentin Somerville of the BBC, who conducted the interviews, described PIJ as a well-trained, disciplined fighting force which is working on preparing and developing attack tunnels. The fighters told Somerville that, “during the last war, we realized that we are risking whatever remains above ground. The tunnels are our hiding places, that shield us from the Zionist enemy…we will use them to launch missiles.”

Israel Closes West Bank, Gaza Strip for Rosh Hashanah

The IDF announced on Tuesday that it will put in place a closure of the West Bank and Gaza Strip...

The BBC reporter then asked the PIJ fighters what they had achieved from their war with Israel last summer besides a high level of Palestinian casualties. They responded that their greatest achievement was “successfully challenging the infidel enemy, and that we can still say no to them. No to the occupation, and that we can resist them.”

During his tour of the Gaza Strip, Somerville was blindfolded on multiple occasions to hide the tunnel entrances from him. He said the tunnels were dug at a depth of twenty feet, and were built to allow the firing of mortars, rockets and anti-tank missiles.

When it comes to the Gaza Strip’s relations with Egypt – which recently listed Hamas as a terrorist organization – the fighters told the BBC that “Egypt plays a very important role in the Palestinian issue,” but they didn’t hide their frustration with Cairo’s positions either. When they were asked when they anticipated the next conflict to arise, one responded half-jokingly, “with Israel or with Egypt?”

Marwan Issa, considered slain terror chief Ahmad Jaabari’s replacement as the head of the military wing of Hamas – the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades – said last week that the terrorist organization is producing rockets, arming and building up towards a future conflict with Israel, but was not seeking a renewal of fighting immediately.

Gaza is the perfect answer to those who call for a policy of land for peace. Give them a state right next door int he West Bank and this instability and threat will be multiplied a thousand times. The answer is no to a two state solution. That two state solution would be a wonderful alternative, if one could depend on them to advocate peaceful relationships with Israel. It is both absurd and hypocritical to even mouth the words :”two state solution.

  • RobiMac

    Hmm….somebody’s got a death wish.

  • I’m banking on the Israeli’s.

High tech imaging of the tunnels should be a big priority in Israel.

Hopefully the tunnels will turn out to be self dug graves.

  • victoria brandeis

i saw kids like this in 1967…..horror can only follow when hatred is fed from breast to grave.

i trust simply that we be safe…..and, would now have no problem stepping over these children before they grow up………

when you are not fighting for the same then there is no fight , no resolution and no repairs………these are sick people, sick children, (shame) and the mothers should have their wombs closed and not bear ammunition to hurt the world…….

don’t need the jargon….pictures represent no interference with personal philosophies ,,,,,,,

BIBI was clear on all……the miss ‘O’ is clear to all as well…….687 days to go before this child president is removed……yes REMOVED.

  • DockyWocky

Tunnels are a growing problem so anti-tunnel tactics must improve. Fuel-Air explosives may be one possible counter, plus, there is always carbon monoxide pumped into tunnels as discovered.
However, advanced detection is going to be the answer.

  • noellsq

If I lived in Israel and I was told that war would come as soon as my tunnels are completed I would risk condemnation from the world and isolate them more. No more cement, no electricity, and no more food. This is war and the cancer should me removed.

  • Kris kristian

Israel must warn Hamas and their supporters that if they attack Israel again, the whole Gaza will be flattened, so they had better taken all the women and children out of Gaza.

If they think that Israel has no idea about there their tunnels are, they are mistaken.
Israel knows exactly where every tunnel is situated
Israel has the very best “eyes in the sky”
So, each and every tunnel will be totally destroyed.
Hopefully, most of their fighters will stationed in the tunnels.
And may they all meet their god, satan

  • They never learn! The failure of the second Navi Marmara-style convey to barely leave port should teach the Arabs that you can only pull a certain trick one time before the Israelis learn how to counter it. The tunnel trick will not work a second time, Israel has the technology to detect and blow up a tunnel as soon as it is built, and the Gaza War only ended because Israel was able to pick off the terrorist leaders wherever they were hiding (except in five-star hotels in the Emirates like Khaled Mashaal) like picking cherries. This time their “war” will be not a near miss, like last time, but a resounding failure.

  • Howie Subnick

Islamic Jihad is like a snake. Their heads must be removed to guarantee its death.
God Bless All the Good People Of The World. The rest can meet each other in hell.

  • Howie Subnick

It is time to blow these bastards off the face of the earth.
Give them a 24 hour notice as Israel does before they bomb the crap out of them Those that stay will meet their maker.
There has been enough talk to last a lifetime. Make sure that enough bombs are dropped, so nothing WILL EVER GROW OR WALK AGAIN! The world has had enough. LONG LIVE ISRAEL!
    Sholom.

  • Is it any wonder that donor states are not rushing to give billions of dollars to rebuild Gaza when Hamas and friends are preparing for the next war with Israel [or Egypt] Rocket science is not by best subject but how do you fire rockets from underground tunnels without giving away your location? If Iran supports Hamas it will remind the world with whom Obama is negotiating. Iran will not be flavour of the month and the Senate will have worldwide support for any veto. The UN should ask Egypt to occupy Gaza as it did from 1948 to 1967, to avoid still more death and destrucion for the Gazan people.

  • TheAZCowBoy

Well, ‘Eternal victims, hear comes your wish: “Eternal war!’

Hezbollah has 200,000 missiles and rockets (A few Scud-C’s with Sarin/Nerve gas too) and not a ‘single’ place in Israel is ‘untouchable!!!’

So, bend over and kiss your pale white asses, ‘Good-Bye!!!’

    Arrivaderche, MFer’s!
    C’est le Vi!!!!

    • Dante

Who is to “bend over” and what exactly is it to mean?

  • herman

In case anyone was wondering why countries are holding back on that promised $5 Billion for re-construction, I think we all know the thugs in Gaza will just get it all blown up again.

  • Bullfrog Europe

How can there be peace ?

    Gaza is free of occupation.

Let Egypt and Israel destroy Gaza’s military capability. Sadly, with the loss of many innocent Gazan civilian lives.

  • GAZANS PLEAD FINANCIAL DESPERATION AND POVERTY

Isn’t it typical that in the same breath as talking about their financial desperation and poverty, Gazans talk proudly about their next round of aggression with Israel. Clearly they have not suffered enough. What is left to destroy there? They really are primitives!

  • When the next war starts, no more ceasefires, just the unconditional surrender of Islamic Jihad and Hamas. And after a decisive victory, Israel should annex Gaza to ensure complete destruction of tunnels, and renewal of Jewish life there.

  • dante

but the fools of the left will hold them blameless and will excoriate for any attempt to defend itself.

  • The Oslo accord is null and void!

The Arab-Palestinians Charter explicitly states that they want the State of Israel for themselves and the Jewish people destroyed.

The Arab-Palestinians actions to date has proven that they do not want peace. Why is the liberal left and many of the world nations are fantasizing and deluding themselves that the Arabs want peace.

People of the world wake up and realize what is their ultimate mission, eliminate the unbelievers.
If the world at large does not wake up now they will be next. It already has started, take off the blinders, open you eyes and look around.

No entity in the world will force a solution on Israel.
They forced or were complicit to the Final solution in WWII with the Holocaust and the extermination of over 6 million Jewish people, men women and children.

Where were the worlds nations outcry, threats and objection when millions of Jewish people were being exterminated, men women and children? They were silent.

Where was the world nations when the Arab countries expelled over a million Jewish people from their countries who lived there for over 1800 years, the Arabs confiscated their assets, business, homes and land 5 times the size of Israel, valued in the trillions of dollars?

Where is the world nations today? Why do they ignore when thousands are slaughtered by Muslims throughout the world.

Today and since 1948. Israel is being threatened with annihilation and when Israel defends itself from destruction, suicide bombers, thousands of missiles, violence, etc, by the Arabs, every country has something to say, threaten Israel and meddle in its business.

This is the time when nations of the world must mind their own business and stay out of Israel’s internal affairs. Only then there will be a possibility of peace.

    NEVER AGAIN!!!
    YJ Draiman

And Obama/Kerry believe that “peace” is possible. Worse yet they blame Israel for lack of peace.

Does anyone with a half of a brain still believe that Obama is not anti Israel.

  • Didn’t they get enough in the last war???
It looks that they like to get a little more…

  • Leo Toystory

Looks like Israel needs to build a giant underground security fence as well. Short of that burying tens of thousands of land mines between 20 and 75 feet deep along the Gaza border wouldn’t hurt.
