U.S. President Barack Obama expressed optimism on Saturday that major world powers and Iran could finalize a deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program despite strong words this week from the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Obama downplayed Khamenei’s demands that a final deal result in an end to all sanctions on Iran, telling reporters at the Americas summit in Panama that Khamenei and others in Iran were addressing their own internal politics.

President Obama never cared about the opinions of PM Netanyahu, Congress or the American people. The President wanted an Iran deal no matter what and no matter the cost to Israel, the Middle East or the world. After all, he will be out of office in 2 years , going on multi-million dollar speaking tours and book publishing tours touting his so called accomplishments. The PM and Congress have been arguing for a simple solution; reinstate the sanctions and crush the Iranian economy, which by the way, is the reason Iran came to the negotiating table to begin with. The President is right about one thing, the Ayatollahs do care about their constituency, especially when the people go into the streets and try to remove them. The only way to accomplish this is to make it painful enough for Iran to force the people to oust this terrorist regime. The proof of what I say can be seen in the events of 1991 when the Soviet Union’s eastern block fell apart (i.e. Poland, Romania, E. Germany, etc.), and more recently when the Egyptians went into the streets on two occasions and forced regime change. So Mr. President, please don’t tell us that the alternative to your disastrous deal with Iran is war with Iran. It’s a bald face lie.
