In Speech, De Blasio Promises to Keep NYC Police Department Strong

NY Daily News – Speaking at length for the first time about a City Council plan to decriminalize low-level offenses, Mayor de Blasio said he’s in no rush to abandon “broken windows” policing.

But Hizzoner is still willing to talk about Council proposals that would make offenses like public urination and fare-beating civil matters — instead of landing offenders in criminal court.
